I haven't kept up with the statistics. How has Easy Now and Pretty Boy compare with previous drops? Someone used to compare the YouTube video views back in the day...

I’ve only been a member of Oasis music forums, that’s enough entertainment for me. I was a member of a midget clown porn forum but it was shut down due to politics, bunch of fucking weirdos…. God bless. Who were the weirdos, the people who shut it down of the midget clowns? Can you say midget in 2023? The forum members, a bunch of freaks; the midget clown pornstars are cool. God bless.

Coldplay fans are a thousand times more chill than Radiohead fans, as someone who loves both bands. Radiohead fans often want, very desperately, to be seen as "high brow". I think some of them even form a bond with Radiohead due to the band's reputation as "high brow, clever-person rock music", because they haven't touched a boob and need to get their self-esteem from somewhere. And I know, because that was me when I was fifteen. Coldplay fans, in contrast, just... like Coldplay. Even Music of the Spheres! (Because Music of the Spheres was mostly pretty decent). There's also a lot more women, who I find just give less of a shit about so-called "good" music taste in general. My general experience is that pop-music fans are by far the most chill and fun to chat with; the more indie and "intellectualised" the music is seen as, the more likely you are to find irritating fans, pretentious superiority complexes, and closed-minded attitudes. And then there's the Bob Dylan fandom, which mainly consists of cool uncles, as far as I can tell. I was giving my experiences of being a member of 3 fan communities for over 20+ years. Masterplan, Oa515, Live4ever, At Ease, Green Plastic and Coldplaying. Oasis are the most high strung mostly due to the band being over and two large personalities in the group. Radiohead and Coldplay don’t have dynamics like that of in house fighting over which brother is better. Remember the great flame wars of the mid 2000s and early 2010s? That was fucking ugly. There was never really fighting on At Ease or Green Plastic. The forums were generally extremely open to various music genres as well like hip hop. Coldplaying became a playground of Oldplay Vs Newplay with neither side backing down. Don’t really go there anymore as it has now become a state of over praising albums like Head Full of Dreams and Spheres. Two albums I am not a fan of for weak songs. I really enjoyed the Masterplan forum, great times…. God bless.

I'd still really like to hear the initial demo of "We Got The Power" of just Noel, Damon and Graham. Albert said it was too "Brit Pop" but you know what? That is want from a project like this. At least toss it out there as a demo or outtake. I saw clip of them playing it acoustic on TikTok. Sounded good. Noel was basically written out of the studio version. If it wasn't announced he was on the track nobody would ever have known he was there.

Fair, fan communities online are a decent source. I think just being in the country where all the bands are from, you get a lot of day-to-day experience with fandoms in the flesh, not just die-hards but more casuals as well, the whole picture. Easy to forget how small the UK is: I know people who went to school with Noel and Liam, I went to the same school as Richard Ashcroft, so there's just a lot of everyday experience with fans of a lot of the prominent bands, as well as the online forums, I suppose. Like I say, Radiohead fans tend to have a more pseudo-intellectual tinge, Coldplay fans tend to be 100% chill post-2011, and Oasis fans tend to be more openly "loyal" to the band, almost like a football-club-fandom feel to it more than just a band. Tribal, but in a fun way (most of the time).

I went to the same school as Richard Ashcroft Searching for your school - Holland High School? - also led me to a site with ‘Documentary’ by Richard’s band a forerunner to the Verve that also included Nick McCabe. Never knew about that song, so cheers!

I can’t get mixed up in midget clown porn or PEDS anymore, I’ll get suspended from the forum again! eva and mimmihopps made it very clear that I’m on thin ice and my next suspension will be for five years…. God bless.

Listened to his three full albums.
Noel's solo career has been fantastic, so far.
Everything since 2018 has been mixed and inessential, for me, though. Council Skies could be a turning point.

That "good luck in the afterlife" line in We're On Our Way Now is the only emotionally-impacting thing he's done since WBTM, for me. Flying on the Ground, This is the Place, and Sail On are all fine and enjoyable, but nothing too amazing. Love this line. Also, the "All we need is love and a place to call home" from FOTG always does something on me.

Those songs also have such a different tone from everything that came right before it in Noel's discography, too.

I don’t want Council Skies to be the album that lacks serious effort and is the mere taxying and parking of his solo career prior to an uninspired Oasis reunion (i.e. creatively and live, picking up from where they left off), but I fear that’s what it will be.

I don't buy it honestly, ok this album might be more 'back to basics' compared to the EPs and WBTM but to suggest that he hasn't put effort into it is a bit of a stretch imo especially considering he's clearly been working on it for a long while (and an Oasis reunion is something that I'll need to actually see before I believe it)

We have to wait and hear the full product, but if that's that, + the two other demos with muscle and 7 other tracks, then clearly, Noel didn't put much effort in it since he had 3 years, his own studio and unlimited time to write and produce it. The 7 left has got to be gold to elevate the record to his standards. So far it's lukewarm, and i'm a Noel fanboy who enjoyed NGHFB 1, most of CY, WBTM and the EPs in their entirety.

We don't know what the rest of the songs or how the album will work until we hear it.

ITHOTM has lots going for it, but IMO the bass is what makes the song. Just fantastic.
