Bono was on BBC's Desert Island Discs yesterday. He chose Dead In The Water as one of the eight tracks to take with him. He looks so old now.
Well, he is 62, no spring chicken.

Think it's 99% certain he had a serious heart operation in 2016 that he all but admits here (will probably save all that for his autobiography in November). He aged a hell of a lot between the albums Songs of Innocence (2014) and Songs of Experience (2017). For a guy who I've always seen as such an exuberant performer, it's somewhat alarming to see. Here's hoping he gets himself back to full fitness. As much as a silly duffer he can be, I like him regardless of my U2 fandom and thought he came off really well here.

I didn't know how old he was to be honest but he hasn't aged well at all.

I've never really been a fan of U2 apart from one or two songs from their early days. As for his heart operation, I didn't know about that but then I don't follow him so..

I listened to Chasing Yesterday earlier and I really enjoyed it. Mind you, I hadn't listened to it for a while.

I'm surprised that Noel hasn't played the Reading and Leeds festivals yet to be honest.

I thought when i watched Noel on that documentary he did for Sky the newer(ish) line up sounded really fresh and the way he played all the HFB catalogue sounded great.
Fast forward to now and my word everything sounds so laboured and i detest the phrase "Dad Rock" but it's hard to think of a better terminology at the minute.
Noel hates the early HFB live performances but stick on any of those now and just look at the energy that not only the band are creating but in return the crowd.
He jokes about doing a few songs no one gives a shit about then all classics but the point is early on people did give a shit about those HFB songs and even stuff like Freaky Teeth sounded mega alongside any Oasis track. I've heard a lot of defence of this set list but i think its everything he shouldn't be playing and im glad this mini cycle of gigs are over for his sake. You cannot justify playing all songs from the last album cycle (which was easily the most unrelatbale to festival crowds even if you like the songs) and then almost all mid tempo/acoustic Oasis songs with no variation whatsoever.
Of course it's Noel so i did still enjoy him playing some of the Oasis songs but i've never been anything but buzzing to watch him live and keep interest in everything he's doing but even i for the first time am losing interest if he keeps it like this any longer.

I didn't know how old he was to be honest but he hasn't aged well at all. To be fair he isn't looking bad for 62. He's one of those celebs that are so far detached from reality that it's hard to listen to anything that comes out his mouth. It's become a bit cliched by the fanbase and certainly by Liam but Noel definitely changed when he started to adopt a similar approach to stardom. I think Noel has certainly realised he couldn't keep going on like he was a year or so ago and has been a hell of a lot more laid back and charismatic in recent times. Long may it continue.

It does seem that he had a serious cardiac event which can take a major physical (and mental) toll, but I have to agree he looks fine for 62. Men's faces change a lot between 50s and 60s. Actors go from prime action-adventure roles to dreaded "mature" roles overnight. Not been a Bono fan for a long time, and he did seem to have lost touch, but hope he will also chill out a bit and live a nice long life.
It is going to be wild watching the younger Oasis fandom reacting to Liam and Noel aging -- they have great genes but even they won't escape!

You couldn't have said it better especially when it comes to how mid-tempo everything is, if you watch International Magic it feels like almost every song is sped up just a tiny bit and it makes all the difference cause that gig packs a punch that his sets these days could never replicate

And don't show Ringo OK Mick Jagger looks better and younger than Bono and he's much older. Anyway, case closed for me as it gets boring otherwise and this is a Noel section after all and not a Bono one.

It's a Beautiful World is a fucking honking shitfest of a song. Vocals, French bit, absolute drivel.

I still don't get the hate for 'Girl with X-Ray eyes'...the melody is great and the different parts of the song flow so well (as opposite to for instance Wandering Star). The lyrics are not great but not that bad either (maybe because I am not a native english speaker?)

Anyway, I've said it before and I'll say it again case closed.

Can anyone share the Noel's interview about the origin of We're On Our Way Now? I'm interested in lady story. Did he mention lady in interviews? 'Cause I've only found: "It's a song about not getting to say goodbye and the frustration of things left unsaid" I got some theory I wanna make a thread about but I can't prove it without interviews. I mean, my theory works only if lady wasn't ever mentioned in Noel's interviews and appeared in lyrics only.
