Just been to see Noel in Newcastle (couldn't see another thread). Bumped into Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers beforehand who was just up to see Noel. Good gig, only notable just were 1) He played DLBIA electric with the full band rather than the acoustic version he's played for years and years, and 2) two absolute knobheads tried to start a fight with me and then my mate during and then after the gig for no reason. They can fuck right off Glad that you and your mate are safe.

They can fuck right off Weird mentality isn't it - sad little twats going to gigs to spoil it. Tends to usually be this type of twat at more Liam gigs. Love R and the M ...not listened to them in an age. Would love to hear some less played tracks get a run by The chief.

Wandering Star is pretty dull, isn't it?

Wandering Star is pretty dull, isn't it? The hype was too big. I forgot if Noel hyped it too much or one of those Oasis podcasts hyped it too much. Either way it’s just an ok song. Nothing more. Same happened with Black & White Sunshine. Someone heard it at a sound check summer 2017 and hyped it.

As are The Reflex versions of Keep On Reaching and She Taught Me How To Fly from the Wait And Return EP.

Noels guitar solo on While The Song Remains The Same is underrated, it fits the song so well, one of my favorite songs by Noel in his solo career.

Gallagher brothers gigs that don't sell out are the worst from my experience. BDI seemed to be 90% Liam look alikes in shit parkas and 10% headcases who had never been to a gig before and wouldn't usually have the know how to tackle a Ticketmaster presale.
I fear Noel might be in a similar situation these days.

I so wish we would get a few leftfield tunes at Noels gigs. It is literally by the numbers now. I am a huge fan...but Mr G ...you are getting bit dull performance wise. Just hoping Glastonbury isn't pretty much sane setlist as 2019 festival gigs.

The problem is though the Glastonbury set list will probably be the same one as he's playing at the moment as we all know what Noel is like and it seems like he's going to stick to this one sadly. But we shall see.

On the way back from the London gig, zero curveballs as expected. My first Noel gig since April 2017 and I can't believe he opened with 4 WBTM songs in a row, it felt like a WBTM gig which is frankly bizarre after 5 years.
I went out of my way to avoid the setlist hoping that I'd get a couple of surprises but as expected with Noel he delivered the absolute bare minimum.
It was nice to finally hear the EP tracks live and We're On Our Way Now, and I've never heard SCYHO ever so that was cool. Whatever and TIOBI were really good. Overall I'd say it was just about worth it but I defintely won't be going to anymore shows until he has a new album out.

I also met Matt Smith - great chap, great gig

Noel playing songs from an album 5 years ago (his favorite) or Noel playing songs from an album 8 years ago or even 10 years ago. It’s all perspective. He probably played more “new” than old which is to be expected.

He probably played more “new” than old which is to be expected. He played precisely zero songs from Chasing Yesterday, and only IIHAG and WAL from the debut. Which isn't necessarily a problem if he found other ways to make the setlist more exciting, but the problem is he didn't. I thought he would definitely play We're Gonna Get There In The End and/or Flying On The Ground. Both are great songs that would have made the gig better. Or maybe he could dip into that catalogue of pure gold that he wrote in Oasis?

I like a good drink before a gig but also like seeing and remembering the gig and taking it all in. Couldn't imagine being that much of an arsehole. What happened at the Noel gig was two lads came and squashed next to me and my mate, which was fine but we kind of had to stand side-on from the lack of room and my mate naturally ended up further forward than me from the crush. Waited til the end of the song and went to squeeze through the gap to stand with him, but one of the lads blocked me off. Tried to explain (politely - bearing in mind I'm not a fighter at all) that I was just trying to stand with my mate, but they both turned round and started squaring up and swinging punches 2-on-1 screaming that they were going to kill me. Was genuinely flabbergasted that it had escalated so quickly from seemingly nothing. My mate rushed back but they turned on him, by which point people had jumped in between me so it became 2-on-1 on him. That broke up, and a few people next to me had basically warned be careful at the end as they're obviously spoiling for a fight and coked up to the eyeball, and sure enough as we were walking out at the end I turned round to see them swinging for my mate again and gave him a fat lip. Was such a bizarre and sour end to a good gig. I'd like to think I've got a pretty good gauge for sensing trouble and know when to avoid situations where things are getting edgy but it just came from nowhere. We'd had a spare ticket which my wife was going to use (but didn't) and I'd just been telling her before you how Noel gigs are usually more chilled out and not the stereotypical Oasis 'throwing pints of piss' crowd...
