Maybe this has been said before by others. Revolution Song and a Simple Game of Genius both deserved to be part of an album rather than a deluxe track. The production and Noel's vocals on Revolution Song sound just perfect to me.

ASGOG is too long for NGHFB in my opinion, all the songs are more concise and that would disrupt the flow of what was clearly intened to be a tight album.
Revolution Song. If you mean the circa 1999 SOTSOG demo version, it should have come out before 2015 (obviously), but that re-recorded version, it has charm but everyone had already heard it via napster or youtube making it entirely inessential. The 1999 version has genuine beauty though, and its guitar solo - not too complicated but I don't know if it is actually Noel - is spectacular.
Alone on the Rope deserved a higher profile, but it's cool the Noel fan base has these semi - obscurities, like Acquiesce, Listen Up before them (in the Oasis days) that you can play for people and then know their jaws are going to drop as soon as they listen.

Agreed, i much prefer the 99 version of Revolution. Punchier (while slower), warm, the big solo. It could have been a big, big song for Oasis in the early 2000s. CY's version is a bit flat, heard it yesterday after a long time, and its a bit boring. It's nicely done, but compared to the demo, it a step down. alone on the Rope maybe came too soon for Noel. He (and the fans) were probably not ready for such a change in sound.

Is anyone else looking forward to Magic Secrets #1 more than COYK?

I wonder if Noel will do some interviews before the release of 'Magic Secrets #1'... I would love it if he did a live performance of 'We're gonna get there in the end'. I love that song!

Alone on a rope always sounded like harking back to perhaps a Bacharach inspired tune. Starting to feel like I haven't heard much from the chief in an age now.

If you had a time machine and went back in time to peak Oasis (say 1995 - 1998) era and played Noel some of his solo stuff, which of them do you think he would love and which would he hate?

I think he'd secretly like all of it, but put on a front of thinking it was student-y bollocks that he'd never deign to write.

I can totally imagine high as a kite bad-teeth-Noel dancing like a maniac to Holy Mountain.

Hmm, I don't think he'd like If I Had A Gun, Be Careful What You Wish For, and You Know We Can't Go Back. Maybe he'd love Stranded on the Wrong Beach, Riverman, and The Man Who Built The Moon. They're all miles apart from even the non-Masterplan b-sides.

I think he would love the Bacharah-style ones ('A Dream ...', 'Flying on the ground') and, in general, all things that are slightly different to his traditional Oasis sound. I think at the end of those years, even if his melodic talent was still in top form, he was seriously struggling to evolve his style and he would be glad to know that he finally found some way forward

Hadn't listened to this one in a while. One of his very best! Having listened to a lot of Arcade Fire the last few weeks, it struck me as sounding a bit like them.

With clips like this you get what Noel means when he says that this song does not longer belong to him. I wonder how many people around him do not even know he wrote it

The official store are selling some of Noel's stuff in a summer sale. Mainly his EPs and the compilation album from last year.

Radiohead does this stuff all the time with store sales. Pretty sure those EPs have been sold out for ages now. Saw them sold out over a month ago too.

True, as for the EPs there's only certain ones which they're selling and I guess they're the last few they have left.

Theres was a sale a couple weeks ago where they randomly put up overnight a couple copies of the CY 7" singles and the 12" single of EOTR, which I of course picked up. They should do more of those.

Just been to see Noel in Newcastle (couldn't see another thread). Bumped into Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers beforehand who was just up to see Noel. Good gig, only notable just were 1) He played DLBIA electric with the full band rather than the acoustic version he's played for years and years, and 2) two absolute knobheads tried to start a fight with me and then my mate during and then after the gig for no reason. They can fuck right off
