^ Noel kinda covered Force Of Nature, if you remember it was 'out' online a couple years in advance of Heathen chemistry's release. I can't remember if it was recorded in the SOTSOG period / sessions but it was written for and the lyric is apparently entirely about the characters, betrayals and switcheroos in the movie Love Honour Betray. I've not seen it but it's a Cockney gangster geezer movie in the mould of Mr. Madonna's Lock Stock movies. Noel was so hard up for tunes he resurrected this one for the album's final running order. I recall downloading FON in the middle of 2001 from kazaa, and finding it pretty unremarkable. I assumed it was ripped from an officially released soundtrack CD but FON is nowhere to be found on the discogs entry. www.discogs.com/release/3249571-Various-Love-Honour-Obey-The-Album

It’s not a cover if it’s your own song

Absolutely hate wandering star. Utter dog shit. Heathern Chemistry was pretty poor, although it had a few decent songs on it. Could never understand a cover on a bands album. smacks of laziness....even if I actually think its one of best songs kn the album. Force of nature. Cover song? I can't believe it...I stand corrected.. I thought force of nature was a cover the last 21 years!!! Love the song..and literally just checked a film I first heard the song on - Love,Honour and Obey - low and behold it's not an INXS cover!!

Yep. I remember getting the MP3 at that time. Never once thought it would end up on an Oasis record. Noel also wrote LBL for the film but kept it back for future Oasis usage. Good idea!

Noel also wrote LBL for the film but kept it back for future Oasis usage. Good idea! Yeah I now vaguely recall Noel saying Little by Little & FON were "too good" to be donated to the soundtrack and not be Oasis tracks.. I think he was half-right. Noel's never chosen to give Force of Nature an airing as a solo artist has he?, probably a wise choice. A reason it's kinda SOTSOG - ish is, as pointed out above, it cops a famous drum sample for its intro from Iggy's Nightclubbing. GLIO had the one from Johnny Jenkins and Hindu Times (the psychedelic demo & live versions from Barrowlands etc) all made use of them. Also, of course, FITB has the Mitch Mitchell Little Miss Lover BBC Jimi Hendrix sample - which has also been adapted previously by artists like Prince on his tune Tick, Tick, Bang.

Still pains me Oasis never attempted it live when walking on stage. Played on the PA system? Gimme a break. That one outtake of them doing on that late night show sounded good!

I always thought Liam on vocals for Force of Nature + faster tempo = a good snarling little b-side…at the very least

Time's weird, or I guess it's an abstract concept (and 'flies' the older you get), but I just looked it up and this next year Noel turns 55.
That's the same age McCartney was when Be Here Now was released and also the year Liam went on Radio 1 called him and Keith Richards "vagina"s and old farts. McCartney seemed ancient to me then and had about 50 more solo albums, or it seems like, in his discography than Noel has now at the same age, but Noel seems not so ancient.
Really both brothers have done a terrific job staying relevant for longer, neither seem like they should be put out to pasture any time soon and there's still significant interest from both hardcores and casuals about what their next moves will be, neither are full blown nostalgia or entirely trading on the past.
Remarkable when you consider guitar music is in terminal decline in mainstream pop, though rock will never truly die (I hope)

I actually like The Good Rebel and it's better than some of the songs on Noel's debut album for me.

Alone on the rope, what a tune. Agreed. It's one of Noel's best solo tracks so far I think.
