Sure, and so then people would complain about him 'loosing his edge' now that he's 'old'... Or acting his age and not playing up to the 'grumpy old man' gimmick. Giving your honest opinion on something is not a gimmick.

Put a teaspoon of mincemeat in each and cut a ‘lid’ from remaining pastry to put on top.Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Dust with icing sugar. FREEZING TIPS: Pastry: When made wrap in cling film and keep in fridge for up to 3 days. Uncooked Mince Pies Wrap the baking bun/patty tin with the uncooked Mince Pies in cling film and freeze. When frozen remove the Mince Pies from the tin and return to the freezer wrapped in a plastic bag. Will keep for up to 6 months Cooked Mince Pies These will keep in the freezer up to 3 months wrapped in a plastic bag. There's some decent posts in this thread. You can try and make light of them with rubbish like this but people are putting some interesting views forward.

Or acting his age and not playing up to the 'grumpy old man' gimmick. Giving your honest opinion on something is not a gimmick. Giving his opinion yes, but doing so where he clearly is doing it to garner some sort of publicity is a tad different IMO. I remember an interview he did in the 90's where he said something along the lines of '60% is there to wind people up'. I think he still sticks with that sentiment. Even a few months back when he was on Soccer AM. Wasn't everybody else uncomfortable when he said that quip about Tim Burgess not having any stage presence? I mean, was there any need? It's been nasty for the sake of been nasty, IMO of course.

He knew the AIDS thing was bad and probably regrets it As for Burgess,I think it was just to be "clever, Chris Martin said not so long ago that's what Noel does sometimes,so if you're a friend you probably know that you have to take some of what he says not too seriously

I love how people take this so seriously.
And as long as people write stupid things and are so into themselves, I will post recipes. Yeah. Bye.

For the record, I stand by my belief that he's the best songwriter of all time.
He just needs to mix up his setlists/interviews a bit!

Fair point, maybe he could be more selective with who he chooses to do interviews with then. He has more than enough power to tell his managerial team. Sadly, I think the truth of the matter is that he likes the sound of his own voice. Sadly, Noel does LOVE being interviewed. Whatever he might say to the contrary, there can be no doubt of that fact. Didn't his management team once run a competition, where the winner got the chance to interview him? Think he ended up with some 19 year old or something. That is slightly weird, I've got to say. The Esquire bit says it all. "I love doing these, I can just be a gobshite" Or something like that.

He hasn't said anything about Wolf Alice has he? I love that band No, but they've said something about him. The bassist said: Well he’s old as fuck so he should probably chill out. [Just] because you’ve been a successful musician, you’re not some kind of strange elder that hangs out on a cliff somewhere in mod world watching out. There’s no point in shouting loudly about other people and then not doing that much creative stuff. I mean, I love Oasis, I think Noel Gallagher’s an incredible songwriter, but I think that whole father-time old miser, rock 'n roll character thing doesn’t breed creativity, it’s just being mean to people. And that’s a bit dull. But, you know, he’s also really funny. Maybe he should try writing some fucking tunes, because his solo stuff’s… whatever. I mean I can’t believe I’m saying this about Noel Gallagher. If you do print this, then I’m probably gonna get slagged off by Noel Gallagher. It is just really dull." He also replied to Noel's comment of wanting to see "someone with a genuine drug habit": "No one should ever wish that anyone has a drug habit, because if you’ve been affected by people who have had drug habits, it’s a deeply sad thing, that doesn’t warrant rock-stardom. He definitely has - he has himself. It’s just boring, it’s just he who shouts the loudest… is usually the mod stupid fucking idiot." So basically a lot of what some people have said on here.

Noel actually said that? If so, unfunny, uncool. I cant ever imagine someone like Ronnie Lane or any of the 60's lot would have ever said something so stupid.

What he said was really distasteful and ignorant. It made me cringe, just like that AIDS thing. I think he was joking with the drug habit line, but it was very poor and stupid. Those things and the constant slagging off of bands annoys the shit out of me, and it's embarrassing as well.
He doesn't need that. He's funny and intelligent enough. Like someone else said he is on the verge of becoming a parody of himself.
Other than that I still enjoy reading/listening/watching interviews, music and gigs. I'm a fan of Noel the musician first. The fact he's hilarious and witty in interviews is just a bonus.
I don't care about his social life at all, I don't know the guy, what's it got to do with me?
Two things that REALLY annoy me about this thread though are those "Poor Liam, at least he's out of the spotlights/does this or that". Okay firstly, this thread isn't about Liam so I don't know what the fuck that has to do with him and second, we all know Liam is no fucking saint, or some helpless misunderstood beaten up kid.

Especially groups like One Direction. I mean who cares? Why even mention people like Zayn Malik ffs.
Massive manufacturered pop groups have been a thing since decades ago. New Kids On The Block, Spice Girls, Take That etc.
We know what these groups purpose is there for, it doesn't need mentioning or slagging off.

Okay firstly, this thread isn't about Liam so I don't know what the fuck that has to do with him and second, we all know Liam is no fucking saint, or some helpless misunderstood beaten up kid. What was the other thing that annoyed you? And yeah, I get where you're coming from, being someone who quite obviously prefers Gallagher, N. to Gallagher, L., I case see why Liam being thrust into this would irritate you - especially when, as you say, Liam is hardly an angel himself - but that's just how it is. I don't know what it's like in other fan communities of split bands, but in this one, this is how it goes. And it works two ways as well - when it came out Liam had been a shit to his wife and kids, there were obviously plenty of threads cropping up, and in each one, someone said something like " Noel would never do that", " Noel has aged gracefully", "Liam can't take it that Noel's been successful after Oasis - it's driving him mad!" etc. (No, really, people on here did genuinely believe Liam was suffering from a strain of mental illness around late 2013/early 2014) I can see why people do it though - you've got Noel, with his loving wife and kids around him, and then you've got Liam with his couple of illegitimate kids, and his former-PA bit on the side etc. Polar opposites. And it's naturally interesting that two brothers with only five years between them, who've gone through so much together, can be so different. Just as it's interesting that one of them chooses to surround himself with celebs, and get interviewed as often as possible, and the other seems to spend a lot of his time these days, hopping around pubs in Ireland, generally avoiding media attention. Not saying that either of them are wrong in doing what they do, different strokes for different folks and all that, but surely you can see why people compare them? The contrasts between them are startling.

That whole Liam vs Noel thing is the only thing I really dislike about this forum and this "fandom" in general. It gets discussed even on subjects that don't have anything to do with the other. It's as if some people are just searching for a reason to attack/defend the other. Even innocent threads sometimes end up as some sort of major L vs. N argument, while that wasn't the intention at all.
