What a fantastic week for music.
Cullen Omori's (singer from Smith Westerns) debut album New Misery is pure glimmery melodic glam rock/pop gold. Dude is in his mid 00's now, has 4 albums under his belt, and really doesn't release a shit song. Varsity remains my favorite song that he has written, but this album kinda goes down that synth driven path. There are a couple standouts on here, but all of it is legit. One of my favorite songwriters around.
Iggy's new record is pretty good as well, love the feel of that record, but I've only given it one listen.

In all honesty, the only albums I am looking forward to all come out of musical theater.

HAELOS's debut album is out now. I hope it's good because I bought the vinyl version. I'm gonna listen to it now. The reviews are quite disappointing as of now:
Pitchfork 77/100 NME 60/100 Consequence of Sound 67/100 Paste Magazine 90/100 DIY Magazine 60/100 Q 40/100 Exclaim 40/100 Under the Radar 70/100 Dusted Magazine 80/100

I think it's decent although maybe not quite as good as I was hoping for. Half the songs on it had already been released, which isn't really their fault given that's generally the case with debut albums, but I felt that those songs were the best on the album.

Yep, those songs were the best on the album. But I also love Alone and Pale. Alone is probably my favourite with Pray, Earth Not Above and Separate Lives. I love the record though

A new M83 track from the upcoming album.
I didn't like the first single, this new one is much better but I'm still gutted that M83 has become an Anthony Gonzalez solo project. It's so different from the stuff that made me fall in love with them a few years ago.

It's been over 10 months since Beck released Dreams, the first single from his new album. Wish he'd hurry up and announce the damn album now, this makes the 6 month wait between ITHOTM and CY seem reasonable!

Neil Hannon has an eye not just for observing political and social situations, but also for stripping away the hysteria or disinformation that can surround such subjects, so with that in mind I would love his take on the current media led fears regarding terrorism and what is behind it all- maybe a song called 'Heightened Fears' or 'Free to Do as You Are Told'? Continuing on from the 'The Lost Art of Conversation' maybe he could delve into modern romance with the meeting by dating sites and apps, the joy of FB and Twitter meaning no past is hidden, and the inevitable bleakness and also (black) comedy that cones from two people desperately trying to make the unworkable work.

Ha! Fabulous... I'll be kind of disappointed if he doesn't do a song about finding love on the internet now, it sounds such a great premise for a Hannon number. Definite comedy to derive from that, and also a poignancy as well, almost in the lack of the traditional things that we'd expect poignancy to come from, in the artificial... (just realised I'm saying what you said in the last two lines of your post, only in a more unlettered way...) You know, guigysEstring, you have a knack for this kind of thing. Why not pursue a career in music yourself? You could be the new Seasick Steve*...only of chamber pop! *in that you'd also be starting out later on - not suggesting you look like Gandalf and are over 60.

Nothing wrong with being overly wordy as a Coward and Wilde fan

Meh. An average mix of newer, shinier production and the same old sound we've become accustomed to over the years. But I'm not impressed; at this point, it looks like the title track will be the best song on the album.

Man Made, the band lead by Johnny Marr's son Nile, are releasing their first album in a month or so.
They're great, I've been following them since they uploaded some rough mixes on Soundcloud a couple of years ago. Sadly those mixes have now disappeared, but most of those songs have been re-recorded for the album.
A couple of tunes from the forthcoming album:

Judging by this song, really looking forward to the new Night Moves album.
Reverb drenched guitar pop - great tune.
