Totally forgotten about them. Saw them once in a small venue in 2010, loved their debut album.

I hope Paul Draper's solo album will be good.
If not, we've waited all these years in vain... #Chad2016

A new "xx" record. The stuff Jamie xx cooked up with his bandmates on his debut LP were brilliant. Bring it on boys and girl. I'd love to see them go for a slightly more dancey direction similar to the songs Romy and Oliver did on In Colour. I heard this song a few weeks ago too and it reminded me a bit of The xx, a new album with a few songs like this would be pretty decent

Pete Doherty's second solo album should be out this year. Been waiting for it since 2012. First the Adem Hilmi sessions were shelved, then the Stephen Street sessions turned into the third Babyshambles record. Then he apparently recorded 10 songs at Cloud Hill Studios in Germany before the album was presumably shelved to promote the third Libertines record. Released two songs from these sessions as a charity single last year, don't know if they'll turn up on the record when it comes out. Wouldn't mind Flags of the Old Regime being on the record, great album title there and it's a big statement of a song. Other than that Down for the Outing and She is Far were mentioned during the earlier Cloud Hill sessions, and apparently Bird Cage and The Whole World is Our Playground were being worked on in early December (according to photos and comments on Facebook/Instagram, Frenchdogwrittles has pretty comprehensive links to this stuff) Olly Boker, Colly Kibber and I Don't Love Anyone (But You're Not Just Anyone) were played on YouTube during last year's Cloud Hill sessions, so they seem like fairly likely choices, although they could use a little shaping up. I've heard rumours of I could use the Steady Hand, Cheapshot and Could it be arranged? but they're only rumours. Cheapshot was recorded (and published to YouTube) during the Sequel to the Prequel sessions with Stephen Street so I'd be surprised to see it, but at this point I'd be more surprised to hear some songs that haven't been kicking around for years

I'm gonna keep my eye on the Brooklyn band Sunflower Bean (Horrible band name). They caught my eye because the guitar player looks like 1965 Bob Dylan and the guy with the awesome creepy mustache should be in Stillwater.

I have high hopes for any Pixies, Death Grips, Gorillaz and Future Of The Left releases and I'll certainly check out anything by Bowie, Massive Attack, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Primal Scream, Aphex Twin, Kanye West, RHCP and Radiohead. That said, (as unlikely as it is to happen) anything by Guns N' Roses would be an absolute godsend, for which I'd fight tooth and nail to get my hands on. I want 2 double albums and expect nothing less! Let's add U2, Nine Inch Nails and Run The Jewels to that list because 2016 clearly wasn't going to be good enough it seems.

Not to make it a make or break year for these two but Radiohead/Yorke haven't made a great record since 2008. Time is ticking. Everyone is up and arms about a new Radiohead release, as they should be, but Radiohead haven't really been exciting to me in nearly a decade. I personally don't think they are the world's most exciting or challenging band anymore. A torch they carried for a decade. King of Limbs is halfbaked, thom's solo stuff is basically glorified audiophile stuff. Spectre is wonderful, but I wonder how much interest these dudes still have within the confides of Radiohead. We waited awhile for KOL and half of it is shit. Basically I'm expecting 2-3 gorgeous tracks a la Codex/Lotus Flower at least, because that seems to be the most consistent thing Radiohead does now, but not sure what my album expectations are. Just hope its good. The other artist is Kanye. I personally like Yeezus when I'm in the right mood, it basically is a mood piece, but all the stuff he has released since has been straight up garbage. FACTS is self-parody, Wolves is lame, and All Day is mediocre. I think he is falling into the Andre 3000 path, where as an artist first and foremost, he just isn't super inspired to do music and it shows. Dude is huge and has been the pusher and curator of hip hip for a decade, but I think its pretty clear that Kendrick Lamar is doing more interesting thing musically and socially with his music right now. Kanye seems caught up in the crazyness of fatherhood, celebrity, fashion, and as always ego. EDIT: These new two tracks and the potential return of Good Friday is very promising. I'm really liking these. Much better than anything he did last year. www.stereogum.com/1852085/kanye-west-real-friends-no-more-parties-in-la-feat-kendrick-lamar-snippet/mp3s/
