As I've said before, as long as the songs are good I don't care what they sound like, it could be an album full of acoustic ballads and I wouldn't mind as long as they are good. I mean that is basically it. People will follow artists anywhere, as long as its good.

As I've said before, as long as the songs are good I don't care what they sound like, it could be an album full of acoustic ballads and I wouldn't mind as long as they are good. Well, yeah, but doesn't that kind of go without saying? I don't care if he does rootin' tootin' country tunes if they're good, what I'm saying is I think there's not a great chance of that happening - I think I'm more likely to like it if he adds some new (more adventurous) influences to his music. And one of the issues with such a large back catalogue is that is often a millstone around the artists neck. Even if the songs are traditional in style, familiar and actually good - like The Dying of the Light - it will always lead to comparisons with the earlier work, raising the usual thought 'sounds a bit like 'X' but not as good'. As Oasis obsessives, objectivity is difficult when assessing and it's impossible for many of us NOT to recall back to earlier works as we're that familiar. For many of us, it's a case of just wanting to judge a song on its own merits rather than comparing. That's the beauty of listening to my other favourite bands like The Beatles, U2 (up to 2000), Radiohead - as many of their albums sound completely different to the ones before, you can really isolate and define many of their albums on their own merits. You don't get a sense you're chained to the past with ever diminishing returns like I do with Noel.

I would like him to make a faster record. More songs like Full On, You Know We Can't Go Back, that kind of stuff.

To me, it's such an inferior version of I Hope I Think I Know. Again, it's just impossible for me to not make the comparisons. The fact that the titles of both songs are sung with the same melody hinders that further.

Might have missed this, so apologies if already posted, but music critic Neil McCormick posted this a few weeks back. Noel's confident... though that's nothing new! Preaching this kind of stuff in interviews is standard Noel, but in private conversation with music critics is maybe a bit more encouraging.

What's interesting about this list is that it's basically a list of Noels best material of the last decade. Roll on the new single FFS!

I don't trust Noel's cronies for telling the truth on his material. Mark Coyle said Chasing Yesterday reminded him of Definitely Maybe. #DefinitleyNot

By the tweet it sounds like he's heard the album, when he hasn't. Meaning, he's already made up in his mind that'll be fantastic no matter what.

Coyle's comment on Chasing Yesterday was a joke suggested by Noel himself.

If you think Falling Down, What a Life, and Right Stuff is his "best material of the last decade" then you NEVER were an Oasis fan. Period. ....Why? Because you spent 20 YEARS with none of that dance/space jazz/electronic crap, and now, suddenly, your pretentious, tea-time pinky goes up in the air and you claim that's what Noel should be all about. And yes, I'm saying it. I'm defending the silent majority out here that don't want you people fucking with Noel's music by making him into the Chemical Brothers or Radiohead. You seriously want Noel up on stage dancing around like a lunatic like Tom Yorke?!

Coyle's comment on Chasing Yesterday was a joke suggested by Noel himself. I don't remember it being a joke, maybe it was reported differently after the fact but for months prior that was the quote making the rounds. Now Liam's claim that DGSS was better than Definitely Maybe, not sure that was a joke or the booze talking.

Good thing we have an arbiter on the forum to tell the real Oasis fans from the pretentious ones. God forbid there should be people who claim to like both Supersonic and that atrocity called The Right Stuff, the most insanely cacophonic, out-there and alien bunch of noise ever released on an album. Political correctness gone mad!

Now I'm not completely sure, but I kind of remember Noel mentioned somewhere that the comment was a joke and that he had asked Coyle to say that.

Lol I'm not a massive fan but I do quite like The Right Stuff, everything else in that list I sincerely consider to be amonsgt noels most interesting and best work of the last 10 years. Clearly there are also some other standout moments not in that list.
