In the Heat of the Moment is a good tune.

Dream On is weak but not as weak as ITHOTM. The latter has got to contain one of the worst melody Noel has ever composed. And his singing on it is awful. WAL and TBOTMI aren't much better (so is Do The Damage too). ITHOTM rocks live.I hated it at first but its really grown on me. BOTMI is one of the best songs he's written since MG !

The only songs from NGHFB I go back to are: The Death of You and Me, The Dying of the Light, While the Song Remains the Same and Freaky Teeth. Any chance for a Liam sung Freaky Teeth during the DOYS sessions? Jim

I always hate when bands release music in January or February. It's normally a dead zone. starting to sound like Noel's management, man (tommorow will be better, no worries)

Going by the demos released on Faster Than The Speed of Magic and previous descriptions of the side sessions of Dig Out Your Soul which Noel and Gem recorded then the following songs are thought to have been laid down : Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks Freaky Teeth Dream On (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach They are all demoed in a similar rough way but nothing is 100% confirmed, only references in some interviews without titles being mentioned. I think Freaky Teeth was first named during the Dig Out Your Soul tour around the time of Daniel Craig making an appearance at a gig and Noel saying he had a Bond tune for him to use. I wouldn't put money on there being a Liam sung version as Noel told Sardy they weren't using any of the songs for the album but you never know. I don't think any of us would ever have thought we would hear Liam singing Sad Song!

I love Freaky Teeth but I imagine Liam singing it would take it to another level. I still enjoy both of Noel's albums, probably going to have a listen to CY later on.

So that's 2/10 tracks, not 5. Liam's almost certainly exaggerating, but *could* have demoed more than RM and STC. Given Noel's comments about the next Oasis album already being demoed, having characters and being inspired by Neil Young's Greendale then The Good Rebel and Broken Arrow are possible contenders for having been demoed then with Liam too. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/music/2008/oct/29/oasis-new-album

I don't think any of us would ever have thought we would hear Liam singing Sad Song! So where those songs around during the DOYS sessions? Those 4, with Stop the Clocks and Record Machine are the only songs I can imagine Liam singing. The four songs I mentioned have never been confirmed by title as being around at the time of the Dig Out Your Soul sessions, only the description by Noel of rough recordings in a side studio which were laid down with Gem. Sardy heard the songs and wanted to use them but Noel said no. During a later interview Noel said he had the next Oasis album written and it would be a "story" type album like Neil Young's Greendale and would include songs using "AKA..." in their titles. Wrong Beach, Freaky Teeth, Soldier Boys and Dream On fit the rough demo part descriptions. With the AKA titles we got on the debut album, What a Life was originally more of a Kinks style song similar to the acoustic versions before evolving into the, for the lack of a better word, dance track so there was potential for that to be around at the time but again nothing confirmed. We know neither of If I Had a Gun and Everybody's On The Run were not complete as we heard the soundchecks. Both of them and Broken Arrow are similar acoustic demos so it's safe to say they were recorded once Noel was solo. I'm doing most of this from a shite memory and no sources to hand so if anyone wishes to correct me, please feel free.

I'd have liked to have heard a Liam sung Stranded On The Wrong Beach. Still one of my favorite highlights from Noel's solo shows. Sinister guitars.

Liam could add a certain kind of menace to that song. Not that Noel sings it badly or anything. This is also the only HFB1 song I could imagine Liam sing.

I would bet TDOYAM was also demoed during the same sessions.

Noel's been an album ahead in his writing for years now. I think he started stockpiling songs again after SOTSOG.

I reckon a full Liam-sung Simple Game Of Genius would have been their best album closer since Champagne Supernova

I reckon a full Liam-sung Simple Game Of Genius would have been their best album closer since Champagne Supernova Granted it was a below average soundcheck recording but I always loved the idea of having those loud Crazy Horse style guitars on this song. Shame Noel didn't do that on the studio version. Its too restrained in my opinion.

It's honestly the one NGHFB track I don't like.
