Granted it was a below average soundcheck recording but I always loved the idea of having those loud Crazy Horse style guitars on this song. Shame Noel didn't do that on the studio version. Its too restrained in my opinion. Even at its most rocking, I think ASGOG is just a bad The Four Horsemen. It's honestly the one NGHFB track I don't like. I don't think I've ever heard the "rocking version", but the version as we know it, I find very lame.

Likewise, the intro is intriguing and suggests something a bit more mysterious, but it just turns into another clean mid tempo plodder after that doesn't it? For it to truly work, it would need 90s Oasis treatment: chaotic and distorted guitars turned up to 11 creating a wall of sound with Liam's killer vocals laid on top.

"A lot of these guitar bands, man, it's like, you know...they wear guitars around their necks because they think it's jewellery. It's like, "Plug the fucking thing in, man, and turn the fucking thing up", y'know what I mean?"

Yeah i guess he's stopped dying his hair too. Cool that he's not waiting too long inbetween albums, he knows the time is running out. I expect him to release albums faster and faster during his 50s.

Noel seems to have gotten younger and younger in the past few months, he's aging well because he knows he's not gonna live forever.

Noel seems to have gotten younger and younger in the past few months, he's aging well because he knows he's not gonna live forever. well it depends on your personality. to be honest 50 is still far from the average life expectancy (81 in the UK). It has nothing to do with life expectancy, it's about being at a cornerstone of your life. but yeah it depends on the personality. At this stage of your life, usually, kids are grown, you're financially ok (mortgage and stuff is done) and your work life is almost over you but you wont be retired for at least 15 years. If you did well, most burden of life are behind you. At 50, i guess you have enough experience of life and you're still physically able to do most things. So that's a time when people can be completely depressed with no goal left to achieve or completely change the way they live to do something meaningful or different. Divorce, move, new life, you name it. I believe Noel is in the second category. We'll see how his new album sounds. It's not at 81 that people enjoy life the most.

Spent 3 hours with Russ, Gem and Mikey Rowe for a new episode of The StageLeft Podcast on Saturday and Russ talked a lot on the interview about Noels new album. Also clarified the Do the Damage Lyrics, the weird DLBIA chord, talked Alone on the Rope, Freaky Teeth, setslists and some truly fucking funny a Stories.
