Be nice to give people three minutes to go and get a drink, though.

He just said he's thinking of playing She Is Love on the next tour. Would be interesting to hear a version of it! Seriously. You've got 10 albums worth of material, with a lot of songs you haven't performed (or not much) and you decide to go with She Is Love to mix things up? Seriously.

He just said he's thinking of playing She Is Love on the next tour. Would be interesting to hear a version of it! Playing SIL live would be a low point of Noels career. Yep i agree terrible song. So many better songs to play like Going Nowhere, One Way Road or Full On.

I wouldn't mind the last two and God Help Us All as b-sides for the new record or as part of a future acoustic album, but I'd be happy to never hear the first two songs on the list again. She Must Be One Of Us is a bad Dylan parody and Oh Toad is just awful. Come On Outside should be kept for an Oasis rarities compilation, it's not that amazing. flashbax also Noel referenced last year after Bowie's death that he was using the harmonica from 'The Gene Genie' on one of his tracks. He claimed this was a new track, but if you listen to the demo of She Must Be One Of Us, the harmonica track from 'TGG' is clearly used on that demo. So I think She Must Be One Of Us will be on it - or perhaps a version on it. I really doubt this. Noel said he and David had one rule during these album sessions. No outside material was to be used. It had to be written and recorded in that studio. That rules out all the songs laying in his closet. This is a GOOD thing.

I'm ok with Noel doing "She Is Love". I'd prefer solo material but whatever.

Certainly not with the full band. I do like it though, when Noel talks about playing those old songs at home, on his own. I wonder how many of those songs he remembers...

I too could've written She Must Be One of Us if I had just finished listening to Highway 61 Revisited and didn't know how to read.

Hopefully If There's A God is in the mix for the new album though.

I haven't listened to She Must Be One of Us in years (and there's a reason for that!) but I remember it being a shitty Dylan-esque pastiche. I could happily live without it!
Just Let It Come Down Over Me... that's a lovely little tune, but I'm not craving for an officially released version of it, the demo we already have is as good as it gets.
If There's a God / God Help Us All just never clicked for me. I'll take it as a b-side though, if he ever decides to release it.
Bye Bye My Family / Don't Stop Being Happy is probably my favorite of the bunch and I'd love to have a properly recorded version of it, although I don't see it fitting in the Holmes album. It's 100% classic Noel songwriting (and it actually reminds me of Lucky Man by The Verve).
For once, I hope (and I believe) that all the songs on the new record will be unknown to us.

I like If There's A God and Don't Stop Being Happy, especially the last one, but I do think too that it's too late to release it. Both should have ended up on NGHFB 1, better tracks than most of the album.

I'm currently reading Lizzy Goodman's book on the New York rock scene between 2001 and 2011. I was surprised to see that David Holmes just popped up in the book. In the late 90s he worked with James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem fame along with Tim Goldsworthy. Those guys partied hard, did tons of DJ sets and it led to the first time James did drugs.......ecstasy while David was playing "Tomorrow Never Knows" during his set. It didn't end well. The production marriage split and they are no longer friends.

I'm only 100 pages in and it's fantastic. Love the oral history format. I went to so many shows and bars in NYC during this time. Great time capsule.
