if the album's done and people are getting promo copies, the chance for a leak is ridiculously high... My thoughts exactly! Plus what's that blasé covering note might as well say " here is the Holy Grail thanks now bye!" Fuck me. The Mustique tape came out last year mate. |

The people who have copies are either people who are close friends with Noel or work with Noel. Those are people who are most likely not going to leak, will play it to only people they trust, or won't let it out of their sights. Plus, these are fairly common. More of these go around than most people realize. We've just been privy to some typical behind the scenes action. |

Fuck me. granted, the watermarks on this would be ridiculous but i'm still shocked label promo CDs are still a thing when there's Dropbox. As Jim said, this isn't really a promo in the classic sense of a promo. It's more of a personal gift. And Dropbox isn't very personal  |

Maybe Noel is passing the CD around for possible remixes. Wouldn't surprise me. A massive circle of people get promo copies. But if it was someone who would be remixing it, they wouldn't be getting a physical promo copy. They'd be getting the recording stems of each track from each song. That would be done through a private server set up. Edit: and they most likely wouldn't be getting the whole album. Just the songs they were contracted to do. Yeah I'm not sure how these things work in the music industry. I just thought you show your fiends your album, see if they wanna remix anything and take it from there. Who knows. |

I wouldn't want his new album to leak like this. Announce it. Hype it up. Let the dust settle and it can leak later, say 2 weeks prior.

On the cd, it says it's marked with a unique inaudible watermark. How does that work? Also posting it in the mail is risky as fuck. What if it got lost in the mail!

So there is a way around the watermark.
For instance, when I leaked a few tracks off Don't Believe The Truth I set up a microphone and recorded the album with said mic.

Not completely inaudible. So it's not completely the same as this situation, but he put a light fuzz type reverb on the drums. So you'd be able to release, but it wouldn't be completely to your standards. And yes, because I hadn't paid yet |

I know everyone is rightfully losing their heads to the influx of Liam news. But thought people may like to see this. I want to know his definitions of "adventurous" and '"mad different."  But this David Holmes collaboration has had me excited from the beginning. Ever since he said that they weren't writing mid-tempo type tracks, and Noel was writing the studio with supervision, this has excited me. If Noel is already sending it around to people, then that is best sign that this won't be scrapped. This will be released. What is that in the bottom left hand corner of the pic??? |
