In my head this is a perfect marriage between two creative minds with grand results. I'm trying not to get too excited. Been burned by Noel and Oasis several times (HC, DIV, DOYS, AA, Gorillaz). I don't think we will be burned but it probably won't be as different or experimental as noel is making it out to be. I can see some songs being string or jazz driven with David Holmes on board. I will wager this will be his least rock and roll album and be on the more melodic quiet side. When Noel talked about it he said that it would not be an electronic album, so we shouldn't get our hopes up. Honestly, Noel hasn't been pitching this as experimental, sound-wise, but process wise. The idea that he's writing songs in the studio. However, David Holmes did say that people want Noel's songs to be more upbeat and less midtempo, and that we would get something like that on this album. My hopes are that Holmes has these influences on Noel: 1. Creates more uptempo songs rather mid tempos, regardless of genre 2. That we get a clean mix and good production 3. And this could be most important. That Holmes has legitimate influence with the crafting of Noel's songs, and that he pushes Noel not to be crazy or think out of the box, but to at least heighten his standards, which includes lyrics. CY was Noel's weakest album next to HC lyrically. I'd love to see a return to form for him lyrically. Noel's music rarely changed, but his standards certainly did. Paul McCartney had a similar experience with Nigel Godrich for Chaos and Creation where Godrich had veto power on track selection, and had the ability to tell McCartney to re-write portions of songs. That kind of influence on here, could have the same effect for Noel that it had for McCartney imo.

Interesting that he referred (albeit briefly) to an instrumental on the next album - I must admit I do love a good Noel instrumental. I can't seem to find it myself, but I do remember reading/hearing an interview two years ago in which he noted that he had a full album of instrumentals written (demos I presume?). Perhaps somebody can track it down? Maybe he's incorporated some of that album onto this one with David Holmes. I'm sure it was at the BBC4 Mastertapes session Matt. I don't have time myself to listen again but here is a link below. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04tj8ntSome pictures from the rehearsals : www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02d748y/p02d6zzp

Noel's input on this track seems to be as discreet as on "We got the power".

Touring with U2 until October at least, I see Noel "promoting" his upcoming release to several U2 and general fans (he's playing a lot of stadiums, so a lot of people is going to see him). Maybe release a single in the last quarter of 2017 and the album probably in February/March.

I know everyone is rightfully losing their heads to the influx of Liam news. But thought people may like to see this.

I know everyone is rightfully losing their heads to the influx of Liam news. But thought people may like to see this. I want to know his definitions of "adventurous" and '"mad different." But this David Holmes collaboration has had me excited from the beginning. Ever since he said that they weren't writing mid-tempo type tracks, and Noel was writing the studio with supervision, this has excited me. If Noel is already sending it around to people, then that is best sign that this won't be scrapped. This will be released.

So does that disc have anything useful on it? Titles? When I zoom in it becomes all blurry.

What's that underneath the ring in the middle of the CD (whatever that bit's called), the number 11?
Could that be how many tracks there are on it? It would make no sense it being the title, given that it'll only be Noel's 10th studio album overall - not his 11th.

There's no point that being the title, as it's only Noel's 10th studio album. Well, Travelling Wilburys' second album was called Volume 3 (their first being Volume 1, obviously), so...

X Or maybe other versions have been sent to various people already? You'd figure the producer would get a copy, if there's someone else doing the mixing (the mixing engineer), the mastering engineer, a few people within the label, and possibly close friends: Weller and Marr. So, it's a possibility that it's the 11th disc that's been sent out?
