It's not gonna have old songs on it. Move along people. I'm sure 'Don't Stop the Happening' will be on the next album. He confirmed it was ready to go in his Reddit AMA. Then again this is Noel we're talking about.

That song really doesn't jive with Noel's quotes related to the project. Hardly fast and modern.

If this does turn out to be the case then fingers crossed we get an EP as a treat inbetween now and album #3 so he can offload some of his backlog of tunes. I have a feeling noel is just bullshitting us with this policy though, when the album comes out I can imagine him saying "oh yeah we had this brilliant idea of writing everything dead fast in the studio and then I just thought, fuck it, lets use a load of songs from 2003 that I had saved from the oasis days". Its a bit shitty sometimes when you get songs on an album that you've known for years, especially when the album version is actually inferior to the bootleg version you already have, e.g. Record Machine. Am I the only one who thinks the album version of RM is a lot better than the demo? The demo sounds absolutely dull to me. In fact, I didn't like the song until I heard the HFB version. It's sped up, transposed and a lot more lively. Plus the orchestral parts are awesome. Still, I wouldn't call it the highlight of the album, but better than the demo, which just sounds like late-period Oasis (and that's not a compliment in my opinion). Never was a fan of the grandiose HFB production on it. While I'm not the biggest fan of orchestras in rock songs, the strings did help lift it slightly, right until the overproduced chorus. The freaking chorus on the album - just those drums sound like they're fighting for lead instrument over Noel's excellent vocal effort, among a swirl of choirs and stinging orchestras, in all, ruined it for me. I also didn't like the vocal effects on Noel towards the end right after the solo (and also the solo sounds like its fighting among abunch of other nonsense in that mix). I think a heavier acoustic driven track, with a couple of minor string arrangements and softer drums would've worked tremendously for the song, rather than the version we got. A violin/viola and cello combo would've been just the right amount. The song's melancholic feel found in the demo version is lost with Sardy's production and mix.

Choose life!

Probably before, but what if Holmes is just a yes man like Chris Potter is to Richard Ashcroft? Chris Potter is no David Holmes that is why. David Holmes past solo work and the fact he rejected Noels offer to produce Chasing Yesterday shows he's anything but a yes man. Any producer of his calibre and reputation would balk at merely being reduced to one.

It's not gonna have old songs on it. Move along people. Well, we just got the BHN reissue with the Mustique demos, so impossible things do happen...still, no way. We already know Don't Stop the Happening is supposed to be on the next one, and there's no reason for it not to be. Come On Outside, on the other hand - that should have been an album track/b-side on CY. He's way past that, and I could see it getting no release ever (then again Revolution Song and Lock All The Doors did, so...).

Noel's 3rd album plans have been clearly outlined over the last 5-6 months. Don't Stop The Happening hasn't been confirmed for that. That's the polar opposite of everything Noel and David Holmes have said. I'd be disappointed if it was. Means another failed studio project. DIV.....AA.............

Just remember people, Noel can flip a switch and completely drop everything for no reason.

Just remember people, Noel can flip a switch and completely drop everything for no reason. Yes he can. And he has recently flipped it to a modern record with studio only written material. So until he states otherwise, that is what I'm going with.

Also, CY was the most experimental thing Noel's ever done, and it included several old songs, one of which was written over 20 years ago. Don't Stop the Happening sounds great, so even if the album is significantly different (and why would it be), why would you not use that song?

But the Reddit stuff was long before Noel teamed up with David Holmes and plotted new course. I'd buy more into this quotes from the last 5-7 months. IF we use the Reddit logic then Come On Outside should have been on CY because he told Jeff Slate in his interview it would be. It wasn't. That's the danger of quoting Noel's plans that far back in time. Stuff changes. Noel's been very explicit with his current direction and plans. No past songs. From Reddit, May 2015. "The 3 songs that you mentioned - "Bye Bye My Family" is called "Don't Stop..." - the other two will definitely be released at some point - not sure when."
Now that doesn't sound like Noel confirmed anything for album 3 with those tunes. www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/34k027/i_am_noel_gallagher_amaa/#bottom-comments

Still, after all the years I've been following Noel, nothing seems more unlikely to me than Noel releasing an album of brand new stuff, with a brand new direction and production. If he does, great! But I still believe CY was the pinnacle of his ambitions, and that's alright with me.

He's probably got a dull plodding colourless version secretly recorded by Dave Sardy ready to be released in the event when he cancels this one with Holmes.

All quiet on the Noelestern front..? Goes to show Noel's a bit boring I think. No way would an oasis upcoming album thread go quiet for 3 weeks when we 100% know he's currently working on it. Let's have a stand alone single for Christmas to spice things up a bit you boring old fart!!

I think the silence could be a positive sign. The lack of studio pics might indicate that the album is fully recorded and Noel is just taking some time off before the album release/tour. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, though.

I guess it's more that people don't expect this to be released anytime soon, and probably correctly so. The way things have gone the last time, we are still waiting for an announcement announcement, an announcement, the first single and then the album four months later...

Only just noticed this. It sounds like the clock is ticking and Noel needs to get the album finished before Holmes moves on to other projects. Which is all good for us. As others have suggested it could already be in the can. Or he's gone from 5 finshed songs to 6 finished songs and it'll get finished late next year

tbh Noel could be all but done for all we know, he so called had half the album done at the start of the year so if that was true they shouldve only had half to do, if hes been on the clock then hopefully that means hes pushed on and finished it though knowing Noel hes probably heating his home with the mastertapes this winter.
