Why do people keep naming songs from years ago to be on Noel's 3rd album. He's already said none of that stuff would be apart of the next album due to the style and manner in which it is being recorded. - Fast and Modern - No outside material - Written in studio only Its a bit shitty sometimes when you get songs on an album that you've known for years, especially when the album version is actually inferior to the bootleg version you already have, e.g. Record Machine.

I have a feeling noel is just bullshitting us with this policy though, when the album comes out I can imagine him saying "oh yeah we had this brilliant idea of writing everything dead fast in the studio and then I just thought, fuck it, lets use a load of songs from 2003 that I had saved from the oasis days". Its a bit shitty sometimes when you get songs on an album that you've known for years, especially when the album version is actually inferior to the bootleg version you already have, e.g. Record Machine. I'll just take the 3rd album by mid 2017. EP would be greedy. This is Noel Gallagher after all.

Am I the only one who thinks the album version of RM is a lot better than the demo? The demo sounds absolutely dull to me. In fact, I didn't like the song until I heard the HFB version. It's sped up, transposed and a lot more lively. Plus the orchestral parts are awesome. Still, I wouldn't call it the highlight of the album, but better than the demo, which just sounds like late-period Oasis (and that's not a compliment in my opinion).

Why do people want Noel to release songs we already have? For some reason I always prefer a proper studio version than some weird soundcheck recording, don't know why though.

I know we're not supposed to have heard most of these songs and I think I'm repeating myself, but anyway, I'm really not interested in songs that are over a decade old on the new album.

As a b-side or EP track, it'd be great. There'll be feck all difference between the demo and the studio version as usual and people will complain. We have decent versions of them. I'd rather as much brand new stuff as possible.

Maybe he'll use some songs that were meant to be on that AA album.

I'll say only one thing: The Dying Of The LightThat's a song we already had in full, in really good quality (not a demo exactly, but as good as) for absolutely ages; but Noel went in and recorded it anyway, and, thanks to some tasteful production choices, he absolutely nailed it. And subsequently, it's probably one of the most popular HFB songs on here (here, where you would expect folk to complain the most). So I say bring on the old songs! (so long as they're good songs) But if Noel wants to make this album up of all new tunes, that's fine as well. It's right that an artist who's been going as long as he has, should be doing all he can to minimise the chance of the process of making records becoming stale. I only wish he'd made more of an effort on that account, when he made Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds... EDIT: sorry for that bit of complaining at the end there. It happens sometimes.

Come On Outside is the DOYS studio version isn't it? Aside from the absence of Liam's vocals, it's a fully complete song - you can even hear the choir that was hired for DOYS too.

I would appreciate the album being a good one regardless of where the songs are coming from.

That is true. I really hated that "demo" of The Dying Of The Light, and my stomach did a backflip when it was announced to be on CY (not worse than when I feared She Must Be One Of Us could be on there under a different name though). This would obviously be one of my least favourite songs on there, wouldn't it? Lo and behold, CY leaks and The dying of the light is beautiful and turns out to be one of my favourites on there.
