I understand people who want a fresher sound from Noel, but it's one of the thing I'm the most unsure about. I hate BOTMI, ITHOTM and WAL, which are probably his most modern sounding tunes with HFB. I think they're all crap, and that they're immensely overrated on here only due to the fact they're unusual songs from Noel. They actually belong to the bottom of NG penned songs along with most of his tracks from HC. You can't be serious when you compare these tracks to atrocities like PAITM. Especially BOTMI which I strongly believe is one of the best things Noel has ever written (and recorded, cos it's not often that he totally nails the arrangement and production of a track). The fact that these songs elicit such a negative response from some fans just because they are driven by a four-on-the-floor beat and the instrumentation differs from the usual electric guitar drone or acoustic strumming makes me worried Noel will never try something really outside his comfort zone for fear of losing his audience. Hum, as I think PAITM is the worst Noel's song ever, I was more thinking about Little By Little / Stop Crying Your Heart Out. Total different kind of songs obviously, but I find all of them forced. I disagree with the "negative reactions from the fans" about "Ballad of the Mighty I" and "What A Life!" . Both are amongst the favourite NGHFB tracks of most of the fans, hardcore and casual. I think he took a lot more risks with The Right Stuff. I would have loved to see him releasing it as the lead single for CY, just to see fans reactions. And nobody asked, but here's my HFB top 10: 1. Alone On The Rope 2. While The Song Remains The Same 3. The Right Stuff 4. Soldier Boys & Jesus Freaks 5. Riverman 6. The Death of You and Me 7. You Know We Can't Go Back 8. The Dying of the Light 9. Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me 10. A Simple Game of Genius

What A Life is a good tune but i don't like the album version, think it's boring as hell. The Ballad Of The Mighty I is probably my favourite HFB song and its in the top 20 of my favourite Noel Gallagher songs ever. I love the sound, the structure, the melody and even the lyrics. The Right Stuff was something new for Noel, more groove than song but it works on the album so i love it. did anyone ask me...i don't think so but here you go anyway 01 The Ballad Of The Mighty I 02 Alone On The Rope 03 Riverman 04 Everybody's On The Run 05 Do The Damage 06 Stranded On The Wrong Beach 07 The Right Stuff 08 While The Song Remains The Same 09 The Death Of You And Me 10 The Girl With X-Ray Eyes

I can't say that BOTMI are and WAL are my favorite HFB songs but I'd take them anyday over songs like Lock All The Doors or You Know We Can't Go Back which are completely useless at this point

Never has there ever been an example of Noel chasing former glories with such an insipid track. It just sounds really crass and generic, like something a shite band like The Enemy would do as a tribute to Definitely Maybe. And one of the main worries about the new album is that Noel just doesn't have a rock singers voice - I don't want a full album of Noel bellowing (or struggling) over guitars because I think he sounds awful on this track.

Noel hasnt really wrote a bad track in his solo career infact some of his stuff is up there with his best tracks. What ive found is the production on chasing yesterday is far better than his debut..i dont think he ever chases former glories he just writes how he does ,i think all in the minds a good track..anyway by looks of what noels mrs says she doesnt want him to ever get back with the band so looks like we stuck with this!

That, and the fact that Noel seems to write slower songs naturally by now - I believe a faster, more classic rock album would be somewhat forced. Songs like Broken Arrow and WTSRTS are interesting and fast enough, he should stick to that.

They both have the same kind of rhythm as Falling Down too, which is arguably the best Oasis song post-90s.

Anyone see that vid that Sara posted of Noel playing guitar in their house today? Well, I assume it was Noel, the door was closed

Love this. Really hope it makes the next album A very very good song. DBTT needed more beauties like this! I doubt it's on Noel's next album. Doesn't fit the description or rules from their recent records. Rocking, fast and modern. No outside material allowed. Only stuff written at the actual recording sessions. I dig that.

Ballad of the mighty I is my favourite NGHFB song, actually. I like everything about it. Still not a big fan of In the heat of the moment, but live it kicks ass. The Right Stuff is one that I find really overrated and which is barely a song. Now, Noel mentioned a new song where he sings the highest he's ever done. I want to hear that! You really need to take some marijuanã and listen to 'The Right Stuff', one of the best HFB songs in the last 50 years......love that drumming. Thanks.

Love this. Really hope it makes the next album Yeah fantastic wee song, a real beauty - as jack says, it doesn't need much improved upon but would be cool to see an official release. Is it DBTT sessions? If so, once again another epic track listing failure - simple rule, just put the best songs on the album. Nobody gives a shit about band democracy and songwriting quotas - but because this was the case, we never got albums that should have been much much better.

I actually want Just Let It Come Down Over Me to stay as it is. If it ends up on an album, I'm 99% sure we'll get another IIHAG situation where people prefer the demo so much that the song suffers as a result. What is there to produce anyway? It's an acoustic song that barely needs anything more.

Why do people keep naming songs from years ago to be on Noel's 3rd album. He's already said none of that stuff would be apart of the next album due to the style and manner in which it is being recorded.
- Fast and Modern - No outside material - Written in studio only

He's already said none of that stuff would be apart of the next album due to the style and manner in which it is being recorded. - Fast and Modern - No outside material - Written in studio only If this does turn out to be the case then fingers crossed we get an EP as a treat inbetween now and album #3 so he can offload some of his backlog of tunes. I have a feeling noel is just bullshitting us with this policy though, when the album comes out I can imagine him saying "oh yeah we had this brilliant idea of writing everything dead fast in the studio and then I just thought, fuck it, lets use a load of songs from 2003 that I had saved from the oasis days". Its a bit shitty sometimes when you get songs on an album that you've known for years, especially when the album version is actually inferior to the bootleg version you already have, e.g. Record Machine.
