Aaaaand that's where my theory falls apart. A shame, because it would've been awesome if as you heard the last fade of strings, all of a sudden that brass punched you in the face! I'm not scrolling through pages of shite....What are your thoughts on Fort Knox? I'm proper having it. Could be a wee bit shorter, though. I fucking love it. It's what The Prodigy, Kanye West, Primal Scream, Pink Floyd, and Noel Gallagher would conceive in a flaming orgy.

So both songs released so far, Holmes thought neither one would make the album. Interesting.

I have to say, even those I really like both, Fort Knox into Holy Mountain does seem a strange transition. You know what, I love the completely erratic nature to the start of this album. Just adds to the madness. Certainly one of the weirdest topsy turvy starts to an album I've ever heard.

Noel is going to make a lot of cash off of Fort Knox (no pun intended). Perfect music for advertisers to sink their teeth into.

Noel's compared it to Sly Stone and Marvin Gaye. I don't know if you're familiar with either of them, but do you think that it'll be more on the side of Sly Stone's Sex Machine or Marvin's Flying High in the Friendly Sky?

More familiar with Marvin Gaye than Sly Stone to be honest, know very little about the latter. A smooth style with psychedelic tinges to it perhaps?

Funk, bright, and poppy.

Great summertime psychedelic album with killer funk grooves. Plus it's been sampled to death by the likes of Public Enemy, Primal Scream, and well, everyone. Pick of the bunch for me is this 13-minute monster of a tune. I really hope Keep on Reaching sounds more like this than "smooth". No offense to Marvin.

Noel mentioned that David Holmes got him to play instruments he didn't know he could play. I wonder which tracks feature those instruments.

SLIGHT THINGS I'D CHANGE SO FAR: - Bring the electric guitar and Burn-the-Witch strings up a bit in Fort Knox - Bring the bass up and give Noel more reverb in the first set of verses in Holy Mountain - Make the transition between the two a bit smoother
All just quibbles, though, I'm really happy with both tunes - what a bold and energetic start to the album! Beautiful World and She Taught Me How to Fly both sound epic, can't wait to hear the other two instrumentals (Wednesday is such a moody title), can't wait to hear Noel singing in his highest register, just can't wait for this album. Hype!

I envy you. I cant enjoy these 2 tracks. I have tried, believe me. The first time in 20 years that I'm not going to buy an album from Noel /oasis. same hear .. I'm usually force feeding new Noel music to my friends .. I'm embarrassed to let them listen to this stuff.. sad I'm not sure what you would be embarrassed about with these tracks, as they are not dad rock at all, but sound cool, edgy and funky overall. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of NG's first 2 albums (even though I personally like them). I listened to CY again yesterday after listening to FK and HM, and my God, does it sound dated, old, watered down, harmless, middle-of-the-road and dad rock now compared to this new material.

For me it’s interesting because Holmes didn’t even think Holy Mountain would make the album and then Noel takes it even further by making it the lead single. Seems like their opinions don’t match. Likewise for Holmes just assuming so way Fort Knox is an album track. Now it’s track 1 followed by Holy Mountain. Unlike AA, Noel is the boss 100%.

Even when having Holmes take him in a different direction, he’s still in charge.

Escaping Fort Knox (Noel's comfort zone). Alarms blaring (personal uncertainty and disgruntled people).
Next 9 tracks are after the breakout and inquisitively seeing the world and its surroundings (Who built the moon?).

With how bouncy and upbeat these new tracks are sounding, I keep thinking Noel will bring a new rendition of she’s electric back into the set, would fit in nicely.

Noel plays the "it wasn't even going to make the album" line so often I'm beginning to wonder if he's telling the truth! He’s done it twice already with this album. The only tracks we’ve heard are the ones Holmes thought were gonna be outtakes.

Well they worked on it for like what 4 years. So there's probably a lot more than just the 11 we are getting. And probably a lot of unfinished takes. If Noel is not wasting any track from those sessions as bsides /bonus, there's probably something planned.
Maybe a Who Built the Moon 2 in 6 months. That'd be nice.
