SLIGHT THINGS I'D CHANGE SO FAR: - Bring the electric guitar and Burn-the-Witch strings up a bit in Fort Knox - Bring the bass up and give Noel more reverb in the first set of verses in Holy Mountain - Make the transition between the two a bit smoother All just quibbles, though, I'm really happy with both tunes - what a bold and energetic start to the album! Beautiful World and She Taught Me How to Fly both sound epic, can't wait to hear the other two instrumentals (Wednesday is such a moody title), can't wait to hear Noel singing in his highest register, just can't wait for this album. Hype! It's probably my cheap earbuds, but the bass sounds really loud through them. I also didn't notice Noel singing the "keep holding on" bit until I listened to it with earbuds. Both my phone speaker and earbuds suck so there are probably some details and sounds that go over my head completely.

Yeah. Implies there's at least some material left over... For me it’s interesting because Holmes didn’t even think Holy Mountain would make the album and then Noel takes it even further by making it the lead single. Seems like their opinions don’t match. Likewise for Holmes just assuming so way Fort Knox is an album track. Now it’s track 1 followed by Holy Mountain. Unlike AA, Noel is the boss 100%. This is actually starting to bother me. First Noel was talking about how different and awesome this album would be. He said Beautiful World would blow everyone's mind. Now he's saying his wife is for the first time (!) enjoying his music and it will be great at kids parties. Then, he came on about how it would divide his fans and how his crew stood in complete silence as they've heard the two first singles. And now, we find that David Holmes wasen't sure The two first releases should have been in the album at all. Come On Noel, help me get excited Again!

In the making of Noel said they had a rule that no song would make the album unless both he and Holmes were happy with it. He's also said how Holmes made him rewrite choruses multiple times cos they sounded too much like Oasis. So Mr Holmes definitely had some authority. And Noel's "it wasn't going to be on the album but then..." stories are just that: stories. Sound bytes for the press like the Tescos and Morrissey stories. I would take them with a pinch of salt, not evidence that he and Holmes have strong differences in opinion. X

Like I said. I find it interesting. I think you're reading too much into things that aren't actually interesting :-P I find it interesting that Noel has now used a similar story for both songs released. Thats peeks my interest. Use it once fine. Use it twice? Weird even if true or fabricated.

Noel's stories and judgments on his tunes are entertaining to me, but not credible. But that doesn't bother me at all. Dylan constantly misrepresents his past (especially when he was younger) and makes poor song selection choices for the albums (especially in the 80's and 90's). There's something in the artistic temperament that can cause this it seems... We couldn't create these songs, I but bet the forum collectively could develop better track listings that Noel!
That aside, I am still excited for the album. Though I like the two new songs so far - they are fresh and energizing to me, I hope (and believe there will be ) better stuff on the album. Loved the first two albums, so I am not worried that he suddenly lost it....

Straight to the Awkward Picture Thread... What if the real Noel is locked in the black lodge and this is the bad Noel releasing experimental music and not bothering to promote it. What year is this!? X

Fort Knox is way better than Holy Mountain which i still think is one of the worst songs of his career. Will wait to see how it all flows

Nice one (if a bit U2-ish), but the performance further solidifies my opinion: This is gonna be an album to listen to and take in as a whole, not a singles machine.
