Can somebody explain me what happened with Klein? Wasn't he involved with The Rolling Stones? Essentially, he cheated the Stones out of a crap load of money. Typically, Klein would approach a band and tell them what their current management was doing poorly. In many cases he was right. A lot of these bands were being cheated. He'd promise to get them a better deal, and to a point he would, to get their trust. Once he had their trust, he would covertly start transferring the band's profits to himself. Jagger, very much started suspecting that something was up. When he went to the Beatles, the shady shit about Klein hadn't really broken out. Nevertheless, McCartney never really trusted Klein (I don't think he's ever explained why). The Beatles voted 3-1 against McCartney for Klein. That was a sore spot for McCartney because apparently it was the band's practice to not do something if all of the members did not agree. McCartney made his father in law, who was a lawyer, into his manager and started distancing himself away from Klein's business deals. The other Beatles continued to trust, during their solo careers, Klein until they started noticing the same thing that the Stones were, that Klein was taking enormous profits for himself. The three Beatles fired him, but he took just about all of them to court. They got hung up in court battles about their royalties, meanwhile McCartney's on a sunny beach laughing his ass off at their stupidity.

The three Beatles fired him, but he took just about all of them to court. They got hung up in court battles about their royalties, meanwhile McCartney's on a sunny beach laughing his ass off at their stupidity. You Never Give Me Your Money by Peter Doggett is a good book about things like this situation and other money related stuff concerning the Beatles, if anyone would like to get more details. Paul was much more business savvy than the other 3 Beatles. John went with Klein, because he felt like he could relate to him. He wasn't a classy snob, more of a street guy who also lost his mom young. He talked straight and that was what he liked. George and Ringo just went with him, because they also, like John, didn't care or know about business well enough. Paul wanted to have absolute certainty. Plus he and John had diverted so much, out of stubbornness he also didn't just want to go with Klein and was looking for reasons not to trust him. He even invited Mick Jagger over, who didn't say a lot (it is to be believed he didn't tell them useful information, because he wanted Klein to focus more on the Beatles and less on the Stones). Lee Eastman had some dirt on Klein though. Paul's always had a nose for business. Even in the early Beatles years he would always network, invite people over, be friendly, stop for chats. He was often careful about decisions. And this has made him the richest musician in the world, among other things like his gigantic musical talent of course.

Not sure where to put this, saw Noel Gallagher's High Flying Carpets tonight. Absolutely fucking mega. Some Might Say was played (in normal fashion, not Dolly style), fucking great. Octopus's Garden after Whatever, magic. Went to the bar when Holy Mountain was played (although was reluctantly tapping my foot along). Muy bien. Muy borracho. Gracias Really?! So was this BS or what?

It feels to me like there's no one fully behind this album right now. Not Noel, not the fans, certainly not the media world. Initially I was worried Noel would leave it too late but i thought ah, he's a genius. He'll time it to faint perfection then release a monstrous single. HM sucks and now this push feels underwhelming. Come on Noel, this is getting too close to the bone. We need a huge second single just release It's A Beautiful World - it wouldn't surprise me if that was the original plan for the first single. And let's get some momentum rolling because as a fan this is painful well, noel's historically known for making dreadful third albums, only this time he dodnt have the larger than life bsides to salvage it afterwards. I loved Be Here Now!!!

Been following this forum for years (I love it) but feel compelled to log in to post for the first time in over a decade.
I'm the most excited about this album that I have been in years. Yes, I wish he would sort the promotion out but I really, really like holy mountain and can't wait to see what the rest of it is like. I don't understand the criticism really. Just love seeing his catalogue grow. Happy times to be a fan!

Noel Gallagher isnt a fan of artists who just sing other peoples songs. Wasn't most of Oasis songs just that Great comparison. Great. We all know "Liam Gallagher" is the name of a band. Like Jethro Tull. And the band consists of Greg Kurstin, Andrew Wyatt, Andrew Sidney Fox, Michael Tighe, Iain Archer, Simon Aldred and that guy in a parka.

Its hardly uncommon for a solo artist to work with others. Id rather have 1 As You Were than the last 5 weller albums.
