I love it, I honestly think some of these versions are better than the album takes.
The Psychemagik mix of The Right Stuff especially has led me to listen to their music and DJ mixes and they are outstanding especially Magik Sunset and Sunrise, honestly get on them.
3D's mixes just throw me back to the 90's and I've had Mezzanine on more than once recently. And I've previously said, the Wizard Sleeve versions of Riverman and Mighty I are just outstanding pieces of music and I really hope Noely G actually works with them in the future.

Definitely not my bag of chips Call me old, grumpy or whatever, but I prefer music that comes out of actual musical instruments. I would never be so rude as to call you old or grumpy Eva. But I would call you narrow minded ;-P fair enough Definitely not my bag of chips Call me old, grumpy or whatever, but I prefer music that comes out of actual musical instruments. Actual musical instruments? yeah, you know, like guitars, bass and drums instead of a fucking computer. Remixes are full of fake sounds

Quality is subjective of course, but it's still indisputably music - and computers are musical instruments. But seriously...you don't like any electronica? It's such a wide field with so much creativity and variety of emotions there, it seems strange to dismiss it all.

Well, some of this I quite like, some I really don't.
The two ITHOTM remixes were okay to listen to once but I can't see any reason to them again, especially as they are so repetitive for 8 mins. The Right Stuff psychemagic mix also, I'm not very fond of. Would be better if it weren't for those irritating 'techno turds' that keep dropping throughout the track.
The rest, however, it pretty interesting. Not as great as Shoot a Hole into the Sun for example, but enjoyable. The 3D mix of Right Stuff, Wizard's Riverman are the best. Wizard's BOTMI is good but a bit slow to gain momentum. The children's choir is a little weird but a good enough listen.
I bought the digital version from the official site, didn't include the instrumentals. I'm glad I didn't actually buy the LP version. Just don't feel the need for it, especially if is so repetitive. Would have preferred to have a different remix of each track.
Overall, decent. Glad they released it, has some great moments on it but also some dire.

...But seriously...you don't like any electronica?... Eva will have to track down a copy of George Harrison's ELECTRONIC SOUNDS album - always a good one to throw on at a party.

The fact that electronic music often sounds like it's not made by "real" instruments is part of its appeal to me. The fact that there can be so many alien sounds that can't be categorized into any "real" instrument noises is what makes it interesting.

Imo, the computers are a kind of instrument. But I hate these! If a song there isn't a guitar, bass, drums or piano, it won't like me. Call me classic

I think you are doing yourselves a real disservice by rejecting music produced by electronic means. Most of the really interesting stuff that is going around nowadays is of such kind; guitar-based music is pretty much dead by comparison (even though there are still great things coming out). You guys should really check out early Aphex Twin, it's one of the most common entry points for people getting into electronica (and IDM in particular). Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and the Richard D. James Album are pretty easy to listen to and great. EDIT: I just realised The Escapist posted Xtal a few messages above. Great minds and all that...

Xtal was the first truly electronic or IDM song I heard, and it's been competing with rock as my favourite genre ever since. However I'd already been introduced to that kind of music through Radiohead/Thom Yorke/Atoms For Peace...maybe they are better entry points as they show how great electronica is while keeping a more recognisably pop heart...
This is severely underrated IMO, melody for days and such a hypnotic synth pattern...

As soon as eva posted that I knew something would break in people, ha.
As big of an intro as Aphex Twin is, I really doubt he'd be the best starting point for most people. He's more of a new horizons kinda guy. And Radiohead and the like? Hmm. The big hits are usually the best place to begin, something which these guys don't exactly do.
I'm sure we're all a little more selective than we'd probably like to be and liking a more natural, rootsy sound is probably pretty common example. Fair play.

I can find something to like in almost every genre, and electronic music is definitely one of them, but I prefer real instruments as well.
However, I would love if those Beyond The Wizard Sleeve lads would produce some of Noel's work in the future. They could possibly come up with a few interesting bits and bobs.

Computers ARE real instruments!!!
Anyway...I'd love to see Noel work with Beyond the Wizards Sleeve too, clearly they have a talent for adding fresh influences and dimensions to his work even without being involved with the original. Could lead to some extremely impressive music. I'm still holding onto my Brian Eno dream and Jamie XX would also be great, as unlikely as it is. In fact any modern electronic artist would be welcome for me.
Except Venetian Snares.
Ugh.

I listened to that EP someone was going about not too long ago by Beyond The Wizard Sleeve. Good stuff.
I like electronic music that has a little *umph* to it. I think these mixes have a lot of it going for them.
And they aren’t overly slow paced.

those Aphex Twin vids are not making me like electronica at all btw all this discussion about guitar music being dead and computers as instruments reminds me of this bit on Jimmy Fallon I saw the other day, from 1m47 on

Anyway, this was the last electronica song I fell in love with, it's so warm and colourful with a danceable melancholy. See what you think.

I'm not a fan of remixes in general but was willing to give this a chance until I saw the track listing. Why couldn't we just get one of each song rather than seven songs with two duplicates (one I've already paid for as well!) Might youtube them and buy individual the ones I like.

Usually I only say "I like" or "I hate" because my english is really bad. How you has seen! But, although I think the computer are "real" instrument, these kind of songs, like electronic music tunes, don't get my heart. That's why I'm not really keen on that kind of music. But I will try to give more reasons and less personal taste comment. Greetings!
