they wont release another conventional album because its the final stage in coldplay "fitting in" alot of people only buy on itunes anyway so can simply pick and choose the songs, this means they can concentrate on a few songs and ensure the max amount of product placement and dancing zebras, they will still get enough live tunes to fill their stage with flowers, candles and enough chris martin dancing to make the grannies at the local disco jealous. because after all coldplay stopped trying to win everyone over right chris?

Agreed. Coldplay are going nowhere. They just sold out a giant arena/stadium tour last summer around the globe and guess what, sold out another summer world tour for 2017 already. Chris Martin & Co. are not talking away from that pay day or fame.

I cant see chris going solo or anything because I dont see much point in that nor do I see coldplay fully shaking their image up because this is what they want and they arnt going to walk away after spending years trying to get people on side. as Noel said around SOTSOG, they had already sold out the tour before the album even released, becomes too easy.

If its true that they are finished with conventional albums, then it is validation that they have completely ceased with all ambition.
Once this happens, then there really is no point to them anymore. This isn't a surprise though.

The only songs I still have on my computer are: A Head Full of Dreams Birds Adventure of a Lifetime Up&Up So basically an old fashioned single release.

A head Full of Dreams sounds like a shitty U2 cover from the HTDAAB era. Adventure of a Lifetime is lame faux-disco mainstream crap. Up & Up is middle aged mother music (bar Noel's guitar solo which is the only decent thing on the track). Birds is the only song on the album I can muster enough willpower to listen - I like Jonny's shimmering guitar.

In my book, Lost+ was the first warning sign that a tragic downward spiral was to come in subsequent years.
There was no need to insert Jay Fucking Z's ramblings in such a gorgeous song. It's only a short (and nearly harmless) break but it annoyed the fuck out of me at the time.
"Media meddles, niggaz sue you, you settle Every step you take, they remind you you're ghetto"
From this, Rihanna and Beyoncè are simply the next logical step.

I liked this song until Jay Z appeared. No, really, when he came by I just "NOOOOOOOOOOOO"'ed, 'cause the song is good, but he makes the entire thing go downhill. Still think the EP's great, but yeah, Jay Z on this song was pointless.

I'm not actually So Appalled (heh) about Lost+. It fits into the whole feel of the Viva for them to be branching out into different genres, this song provides a great beat for rapping, and I normally quite like Jay-Z (well...up to a certain point in his career. I was quite disappointed by Watch the Throne, save a few tracks). His verse here is pretty bland, but it's not too bad. I think the track has a good place as a b-side or EP track, which is what it was. A Spell A Rebel Yell should have been on Prospekt instead of the Lovers in Japan cut, though.

I think it's funny that Noel played guitar on this album.

I think had AHFOD actually had been an EP I probably wouldve liked it more, dont be spreading your butter too thin over that bread there, same goes for heathen chemistry, piss poor conventional album.
got no problem with EPs, had DOYS been an EP it wouldve been cracking, keep it short, keep the quality high, dont be padding out an album with appalling garbage just for the sake of getting the tracks up high enough to flog a whole album.
just dont.

HC and DOYS had bad tracklistings. The song were there in 2002 and 2008.

Some thoughts after a year with this album:
I love Up&Up. I really like A Head Full of Dreams and Birds too. Adventure of a Lifetime is good for the guitar work on it, otherwise it's pretty bland. Everglow is the same way but it's heartfelt and sincere so it gets a pass (live version makes the song come to life). Amazing Day tries to do what Everglow does but falls short. Although, I do like the dreamy sound of it.
Aside from those songs, Fun starts off alright but doesn't really go anywhere. Army of One is just bland and doesn't do much, imo. X Marks the Spot and Hymn for the Weekend are the same case except they're both shite and try too hard to be mainstream. Although, HFTW would be better off with different lyrics and the without the Coldplay moniker.
Also, I think that Lost! is an awesome song that didn't Jay-Z anywhere near it and was gonna enough on its own. It amazes me that it's one of the weaker songs on VLV, yet it's still a great tune and if it were placed on almost any other Coldplay album, it'd be a standout or close to it.

I find it interesting that theyve started using the stripped down version of everglow to advertise the whole album of head full of dreams in their TV ad when that version isnt even on the album.
think chris had some speed of sound regrets on the production of that tune.
