Viva La Vida (the song) still sounds so fresh and exciting after 7 years. Phenomenal!

The thing that really irks me about Coldplay just now Is the fact Martin seems to have shunned what made them so great in the first place, the early Echo and The Bunnymen, U2,Oasis influences. It's like he's almost embarrassed by them now. You can hear these influences still there to an extent trying to get through on AHFOD l, Birds and U&U and the piano riff on Everglow (the rest of the song is shit), but he seems to want to bury them away under layers of shit sounds in the mix. I really cant fathom why he would want to take Coldplay down a chart, poppy, totally boring track other than the fact he's living in LA and hanging out with Bieber etc and this has gone to his head and made him think they produce good music. So frustrating and infuriating.

So frustrating and infuriating. I've been going back and watching old interviews with Chris on YouTube from the early 2000s. His influences stated were Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, PJ Harvey, Flaming Lips, Echo & The Bunnymen, Brian Eno and REM. He hasn't name dropped bands like that in a long long time. What happened to the guy that heard "Isn't It A Pity" and then wrote "The Scientist"? Or when he use to say he loved making a track like "A Whisper"? I miss that fucking guy.

In an effort to judge this album fairly I've now listened to it three times, from start to finish. There won't be a fourth. I should add that I do rate a handful of songs on this album, as I do Mylo Xyloto and Ghost Stories. It's a pity, really; they can do so much better. Everglow or Amazing Day are inexcusably banal, and it’s difficult to forgive spectacular missteps like Hymn For The Weekend from the band that wrote Lovers In Japan.

Chris has said often that negative criticism stings him very bad and has a problem turning off his mind after hearing such things. Well the hardcore Coldplay fan at Coldplaying.com have ripped this album to shit.

Having read the comments on this I had to give it a listen and there is no glossing over the fact that this album is pure shit. Its hard to explain just how bad it is. It made me think about all the ink spilt on all the pages, in all the sections of this website about Oasis, Noel or BE albums people didn't like and then you listen to a turd as large as this from one of the biggest bands in the world and it puts it all into perspective. I can't think of a redeeming feature about this record at the moment. Its like Ghost Stories was what they considered their change up album and when they finished it someone shouted 'Right then lads, what do the kids want?' Its a contrived, cynical, appallingly produced record devoid of substance. I actually laughed at several points. this album is starting to become like the human centipede, it sounds so horrific, I feel I have to hear it, not because I want to but because I have to.

I still havent listened to t, but judging by how many bad reviews ive read, this album has totally flopped, and I can see this being the last Coldplay album this decade at the very least. Big 2016 tour, then a long break with a back to basics approach when they return maybe?

Ultimately Chris just wants to be liked. He's a nice guy, but I do get some try-hard vibes from him. They just don't feel real anymore. Definitely don't seem like a band anymore. Honestly if you played this to me in 2000 after Parachutes came out and told me this is what would become of them, I might have been a tad disturbed.
I've only listened to it once, but damn - it was brutal and comical experience.

I have the album now and I've heard the first five songs, appalling until now, abysmal for what they used to be.

Coldplay landed at #35 in NME's Top 50 Albums of 2015.
#35 Coldplay – ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’
We said: "The most satisfying collection of songs they’ve written in years. Inclusivity is hardly a new concept for this band, but from the title-track’s ecstatic, starry-eyed expression of wonder to the gargantuan gospel-pop curtain call of ‘Up&Up’, they’ve rarely sounded so open-armed and elated as they do here.”
Say what?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

They won't dare attack a band that will actually keep the industry propped up a little bit longer.

Finally listened to the Zane Lowe interview with Chris Martin. A lot of heavy dick sucking going on. "The spirit of the Hacienda is on this record." - Zane "A great example of Coldplay embracing pop music." - Zane "A pure joy to listen to." - Zane "I love this album." - Zane "A beautiful piece of music (Everglow)." - Zane irumble.com/beats1/connect?id=idsa.35b42c85-946b-11e5-b03a-7759302b9506
