It feels like honest criticism when both Live4Ever and Coldplaying.com members are both ripping into this album hardcore. Especially on tracks like Hymn For The Weekend, Fun, X Marks The Spot and that poem. I heard a snippet of the track with the poem and my first thought was of how creepy that voice sounded. It kind of makes it seem more plain-Jane and odd than the artsy approach they were probably trying to go after with it, unfortunately.

3fm just played a few snippets and praised the album. Of course, the blander they get, the more praise they will receive.

I know this poem got Chris out of a mini depression he was in over the last 2-3 years but call me crazy, the poem isn't really that good. Or it at least doesn't impact me at all.

Why attack a "rock" giant when sales are down across the board. Coldplay is a proven seller. Expect the jerkoff train to begin today. Rolling Stone is gonna love it.

Listen, this is the ALBUM Chris Martin ALWAYS wanted to make. It was all leading up to this. So forget Coldplay's other crowning achievements like A Rush of Blood To The Head and Viva La Vida. This is the fucking party man!

I'll tell you one thing, Coldplay is going to have an exciting anthology set one day with the mountains of unreleased material they have stockpiled. Songs like........
Harmless Ladder To The Sun Sweet Marianne (Probably the closest they got to sound like Radiohead. Think Bends to Ok Computer) Pour Me (Studio) Solid Ground Famous Old Painters Don Quixote (Spanish Rain) Leftrightleftrightleft Lukas Wedding Bells Aiko Car Kids Cartoon Heart demo

An album like "A Head Full of Dreams" makes me really appreciate the "Viva La Vida or Death and All of His Friends" era of Coldplay.

In an effort to judge this album fairly I've now listened to it three times, from start to finish.
There won't be a fourth.

Having read the comments on this I had to give it a listen and there is no glossing over the fact that this album is pure shit. Its hard to explain just how bad it is. It made me think about all the ink spilt on all the pages, in all the sections of this website about Oasis, Noel or BE albums people didn't like and then you listen to a turd as large as this from one of the biggest bands in the world and it puts it all into perspective.
I can't think of a redeeming feature about this record at the moment. Its like Ghost Stories was what they considered their change up album and when they finished it someone shouted 'Right then lads, what do the kids want?' Its a contrived, cynical, appallingly produced record devoid of substance. I actually laughed at several points.

So I really like Everglow, but there's a moment in the chorus where I swear Martin sounds like a crow 'cawing'. I can't help but laugh and cringe at the same time when he hits that note.

If Coldplay broke up after this album (which they won't) I'd be ok with it. They are not returning to that A Rush of Blood To The Head sound ever again. I thought "Atlas" was going to be a back to basics approach but I was dead wrong. Chris should just make solo albums at this point because it features more guest stars than actual bands members. Seriously, are Jonny and Will even on this album?

Seriously, are Jonny and Will even on this album? They are, but they're buried beneath all the awful sounds to "fill the mix". Adventure of a Lifetime is a well-arranged song, and both Jonny and Will do a great job on that song, but there is just too many layers on top of it that hide any that good work. I like that song, but that is one gripe over it that I just cannot get over, at all.
