Finally listened to the Zane Lowe interview with Chris Martin. A lot of heavy dick sucking going on. "The spirit of the Hacienda is on this record." - Zane "A great example of Coldplay embracing pop music." - Zane "A pure joy to listen to." - Zane "I love this album." - Zane "A beautiful piece of music (Everglow)." - Zane irumble.com/beats1/connect?id=idsa.35b42c85-946b-11e5-b03a-7759302b9506seem to remember Zane Lowe was behaving like abit of a tit when beady eye were putting out the first single for BE, cant remember why, his radio show is never that good. And I get it, it's his job to promote and make guests feel welcome but its a fine line between being honest and sucking someone off.

seem to remember Zane Lowe was behaving like abit of a tit when beady eye were putting out the first single for BE, cant remember why, his radio show is never that good. And I get it, it's his job to promote and make guests feel welcome but its a fine line between being honest and sucking someone off. I liked the XFM thing when they played soul love for the first time, the woman stuck on the track, and read out some tweets on what people thought (some bad some good) and it just kept it abit more realistic and balanced, I know the albums not out yet so he cant do that and I know hes not going to say "Ive heard the album and to be quite honest my septic tank holds less shit" but sometimes I listen to these radio shows and it does come across as completely fake as to what they are saying, just say you like it, dont go overboard with the praising bullshit. "A great example of Coldplay embracing pop music"....lets calm down.

When I listen to this album I'm in Para, Para, Paradise- Zane Lowe
OK he didn't say that but he might as well have. He's an idiot.

Ultimately Chris just wants to be liked. He's a nice guy, but I do get some try-hard vibes from him. They just don't feel real anymore. Definitely don't seem like a band anymore. Honestly if you played this to me in 2000 after Parachutes came out and told me this is what would become of them, I might have been a tad disturbed. I've only listened to it once, but damn - it was brutal and comical experience. This is the most brutally honest post I've seen about the band. Try posting this on Coldplaying and see the response you get. It's like they lost their identity after Viva La Vida. Mylo still had its moments but the bloat outweighed the great material, because they were desperate for a more pop and "hip" sound. They just seemed very uninspired at this point and their new music does nothing for me. As what you said about Chris, I want everyone to watch this interview and point out something you notice from him. Is it just me or does he seem very much more quiet and humble, like he's trying to fit in? The Extra's skit Lennon posted shows how just cool and collected he used to be. Something's off about him these days...

It's like he fell into a very different crowd. Indie/Radiohead wanna be rocker is now. Beiber/Beyoncé/Rihanna groupie. Mylo had good ideas but was undercooked. Charlie Brown should have been a much bigger hit. Imagine that came out in 2003-2005? Would have been huge for them. I think Paradise and Princess of China was the beginning of the end of "classic" Coldplay. That was pointing to the direction we are finding ourselves in now.

To be honest I'm not too keen on Charlie Brown, but its a great pop single. Imagine if they put out Every Teardrop back in that 2003-2005 period... would've sent them soaring! Also Paradise's verses aren't that bad, its just the lackluster chorus. Songs like ETIAW reassures me that they still have that spark, its just hidden under that worry of going against the grain again.

Hey Coldplay... remember when you were able to make B-sides sound they should've been on the album? Remember sounding like a badass british rock band? Get a grip inside!

I agree with a lot of what glider and Lennon2217 are saying. you guys pretty much sum up my thoughts as well. Yeah with Chris, he's always been extremely charming and that can rub people the wrong way, but now its like he's constantly looking for validation from people. Don't know if that's because he's grown up or because of his divorce, but in recent years its gotten worse. You can tell despite all the laughs there's a tenderness and hurt in his eyes in that interview (maybe i'm bsing here), just think he might be scared to confront it now that he's a quote-unquote "adult". Don't know if I'd ever call Coldplay badass, but yeah they do have some tunes that have sum verve to them (Violet Hill, Animals, Politik, White Shadows. Honestly at the end of the day they just don't have the tunes anymore. Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven are the last two things that resonated with me and that might because I heard those songs played for like first couple times under the beautiful backdrop of Chicago at Lolla back in 2011. Ghost Stories was boring this is just bad. First album that I feel has legit zero merit. First single is the best thing on it, and even that's not what I'd call a great song. Promising for a first single, but i'm not itching to listen to it again and again.

Something different. Coldplay going next level. I was wrong. What a shame with the majority of material released since then.

I kind of feel sorry for him in that interview (as much as you can for a multi millionaire who could get any woman he wants), he seems a bit lost and it's coming through in the music. I don't know what this whole "I'm so, so, so happy" is all about either, comes across as BS. One thing in that Seacress interview I agree with though, I almost cried when I heard Amazing Day as well, tears of pain.

Midnight just keeps getting better and better for me as time passes, I thought it was okay at first but now it's a monster of a song. So eerie yet calm, and the production is subtle, including the trance style outro.

When the hell are they going to team up with Jon Hopkins - he's a monster of an artist (his album with King Creosote is one of my favourite) who said the only band he'd be willing to team up with is Coldplay.
Midnight is the best thing they done since the Viva La Vida days. It's strange that, despite writing all their own material, their albums are only as good as the producer they are working with. Team up with brilliance and they can produce great music, but hire complete crap and they are brought down to that level, and this album proves this theory even more.

Just cant get into that song. The "turn your magic on" annoys me and I just can't go most of it (although it's much better stripped down like that). Anyway, they should get in Dave Sardy for their next album haha!

It's strange that they came back so soon, they never did this, their last album came out only past year and this new one already this year, usually they took a couple of years before releasing a new one.
Also their last album wasn't well received, I think there is an air of deseperation in regain their mass appeal I guess, calling Noel, Beyonce and even his ex wife, doing a poppy album with a sound ready for the american market, there is something wrong.

Damn it! I wanted Taylor Swift to headline. At least she's a true pop star unlike the pretender Chris Martin. Songs they will def play: Yellow Viva La Vida Adventure of A Lifetime. Probably Clocks or Fix You references at some point. If they attempt Hymn for the Weekend with Beyonce they will get CRUSHED on social media as sellouts.

Chris Martin sent the cast and crew of David Bowie's new musical, Lazarus, a copy of the new record. This was their reaction on hearing it for the first time:
