Coldplay's time has long since passed. I don't expect great songs from them, I just expect good songs with consistent quality. I think they deliver on that for the most part. It's probably why I enjoyed most of Ghost Stories.

Just hope their new material is going to be better than their last three ones. Because if not...

Possible lead single? Apparently "Lamhein" is "Moments" in Hindi.

Apparently Coldplay have been filming a new music video in India this week as well....

Unfortunately it appears that Lamhein is a song which merely samples an MX song. Damn.

Part of me wanted Coldplay to appear at the end of Apple's keynote yesterday with a brand new single. Oh well.
* Yes I like Coldplay and go fuck yourself

Coldplay get so much freedom with the critics. If Oasis ever pulled the shit Coldplay have done....woe betide. Massive sellouts.

I was listening to A Rush of Blood to the Head for the first time in a while yesterday and I'd forgot just how good it is. Probably one of the best British albums of that decade. Going to go back to the other albums over the next few days as I've not really listened to them much recently.
Hopefully it won't be too long until the new single and that the album does come out this year.

Coldplay have pulled out some shite the last few years, but I think there's a general consensus from anyone with a brain that they have never released something quite so embarrassing as Heathen Chemistry. Fact.

Various news outlets saying they recorded a video in Mumbai. I'm predicting a new single at the beginning of October.

Couple that with Chris Martin disappearing up his own arse, reemerging then disappearing back up again makes them totally unpalatable now.

Princess of China is potentially a very good song without Rihanna and their 'wooooooahs' over Jonny Buckland's superb but criminally obscured guitar piece. Instrumentally, there is a lot of interesting things going on there, as opposed to the dad rock dirge of Heathen Chemistry. Modern pop can be great as Coldplay have proven (though great pop records are few and far between these days) and the attempt to do so is far more admirable than luddite, uncool 'balding fat dads in jeans and leather jackets' shtick type music that Oasis were obsessed with in the 2000s.

Mylo Xyloto is worse than Heathen Chemistry, even with one of my fave Coldplay songs in it

Mylo Xyloto is worse than Heathen Chemistry, even with one of my fave Coldplay songs in it You really think so? Although I'm by no means a fan of MX, it beats Heathen Chemistry into submission pretty easily IMO. Hurts Like Heaven Paradise Charlie Brown Major Minus Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Don't Let it Break Your Heart Up With the Birds All these are FAR ahead of the vast majority of Heathen Chemistry, and for all its (many) faults at least Mylo is what it wants to be - a colourful, glittery, pop record full of life. Heathen Chemistry tries nothing and still fails.

Ghost Stories is worse than anything Oasis ever put out, and I include Different Gear, Still Speeding in that.
A Rush of Blood to the Head is undoubtedly one of the best albums of the previous decade.

Nah I really don't agree, Oasis were putting out records for middle aged men with erectile dysfunction it was so unfashionable and out with the times. As The Escapist says, Mylo Xyloto is what it is - it's a pop record that is colourful. That's not my style personally, but loads of people absolutely dig it. When you get a shit Oasis record, not many people are digging it apart from the hardcore support which happens with any fanbase. Ghost Stories at worst is bland, but it doesn't contain anything outright offensive like the sixth form Battle of the Bands style drudgery shite of Heathen Chemistry.

Coldplay are very hit or miss for me. I like Parachuters and Rush of Blood, Fix You and Swallowed In The Sea are the only things I like from the blandfest that is XY, Viva la Vida I love - made me an actual Coldplay fan, I was really excited for Mylo Xyloto which was a huge letdown for me. Ghost Stories was more of the same. The addition of Rihanna and the EDM stuff is Sky Full Of Stars turned me off to them. Still like the old stuff though.
I'm not really expecting much from the new album. It'll probably be more of the same pop stuff.

A Sky Full of Stars may have been a hit but I could list a boat load after boat load of post MG compositions I'd rather listen to. Any song that combines middle class mum-rock with a soft "we're all having a good time" club influenced designed beat makes me me want to curl into a ball of nauseous hate and roll into the nearest body of water. Somebody punch Chris Martin for me.
