Why haven't we talked about the fact that the music video for AOAL is going to be set in the Planet of the Apes? LMAO!

Paradise was hilarious because it was an obvious comedic pisstake. This new video is the equivalent of the music video for All Around the World!

Justvwatched the preview, stakes are high. Oh god I would love a dvd of NG comenting Coldplay's videos. "I know for a fact that monkeys cant play musical instruments, nor play with each other, who was high enough to let this happen? Chris you have a lot of splainin to do"

Everglow was just played on Zane Lowe's radio show. Sounded ok but it's quite dull. I reckon it'll be more popular on here than the single was though.

On Up and Up Chris actually sounds bad in places, but I guess it is live and a new tune. His voice sounds like he's lost some of his range. I don't really think Up and Up is terrible, its just what Coldplay are at this point sadly. Bloated production and cheesy sentiment. At least it has a guitar solo, despite it not being all that memorable. I'll probably give this album a go (haven't heard the snippets) but I'm not expecting it to stick or to get more than 10 plays. These guys have write enough tunes that I like/love that I'll always hope for at least a gem or two, but its been a minute since they've had a legit great song.

Everglow is pleasant enough while it's on, but also serves to show how much the band have fallen when it comes to writing songs based on emotional substance like they used to. Listen to this and then Amsterdam to see what I mean.

Listen to this and then Amsterdam to see what I mean. It feels forced and doesn't really go anywhere, it's also way over produced. Amsterdams a great song in comparison.

I've said it many times over the years. Coldplay seems like they are doing things in reverse older. They began their career much darker. Remember everyone thought they were a "depressing" band and sung songs about killing yourself as Chris Rock said at the 2002 MTV Video Awards. Back in 2001 their influences were Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, PJ Harvey and Echo and the Bunnymen. Their music was more simple, direct and honest emotion. Now in 2015 their influences are Bieber, Beyoncé, AVICCI, Katy Perry and Rihanna. Their music is almos bubblegum pop and lyrics boiled down to teeny pop cliches. It is what it is I suppose.

I'm sure Zane kissed his ass hardcore during the interview. That's one of Zane's faults. He goes over the top kissing guests ass and I know it's part of the game but it's a little heavy at times.

He did indeed. I like Zane to be honest, sure he's over the top but at least he's positive and supports new music rather than just moaning that there's been nothing good since the 60s.

No, that's Liam Gallagher.

Listen to this and then Amsterdam to see what I mean. Chris and company need to go back and listen to this fantastic album closer and realize the error of their ways. The fact that they sound more mature over 13 years ago compared to today is completely embarrassing for a post-Britpop rock band - oh wait, that's right, they're "no longer a rock band" right?

It wouldn't be fair to compare Everglow to Amsterdam, easily Coldplay's strongest closer and possibly their best song, but Everglow sounds so generic that it's almost unbearable. A GS outtake at best. And Chris's vocals sound nearly as bad as Liam during the HC era. Did Chris have a sore throat or did he just finish chain-smoking before recording this? And I thought Another's Arms had scratchy vocals.
It's depressing to watch what was once my absolute favorite band transform into the an MOR, run-of-the-mill shit that deserves to only stand with Maroon 5 and Imagine Dragons.

Which is funny since Imagine Dragons is basically a dull MOR copy of Coldplay.

So, Everglow. It's a bit bland, isn't it?
I can't say it's bad... but it sounds like another generic, unoffensive piano-lead ballad. We've got tons of them from tons of artists. Is this Avicii ft. Chris Martin? You'd expect something more special from Coldplay... sorry, I meant the original Coldplay!

Up&Up is definitely Coldplays attempt at writing a "Hey Jude" inspired song. It'll probably end their concerts every night during the encore on the upcoming tour. A big sing along.

Now he's writing songs like "Magic" and "Everglow". Sick Boy theory striking Chris Martin hard these days.

Chris Martin on "Everglow": "I was in the ocean one day with this surfer guy, who spoke just like you'd imagine a surfer guy to speak ... He was like, 'Yo dude, I was doing this thing the other day man, it gave me this total everglow!' I was like, 'What an amazing word!' Then the song came completely out. To me, it's about – whether it's a loved one or a situation or a friend or a relationship that's finished, or someone's passed away – I was thinking about, after you've been through the sadness of something, you also get this everglow. That's what it's about." After hearing that story I think of this scene from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall".

Up & Up is tiring quickly for me. The solo is great but the rest gets boring quickly. It's saying something that Travis' new single sounds fresher and more fun than anything off Coldplays new album. Martin really needs to drastically rethink things.
