Yeah, but it sounds different than Oasis, which is (almost) exactly what You Know We Can't Go Back sounds like. But we all know Noel is afraid of trying new things (ahem, AA colab/album) so I guess this shouldn't be surprising. Grats to Noel for doing a video from the US tour, but in the end, meh. No, it's just not You have to put out a summer single, you either choose YKWCGB or LATD cause those songs fit as summer singles Sometimes it's like you all forget the guy wrote 8 #1 singles and the majority of 9 #1 albums Yeah and sometimes, just sometimes, those of us who've been around to see all that from the beginning/or close to MIGHT want to see Noel try something a little different than what he always does instead of going for the most obvious. He's got enough money, has his own label, he can do (almost) whatever the fuck he wants. I still think he's awesome, but highly predictable as he's aged. Like I said before, can't teach a old dog new tricks. |

That's some good reasoning, but there's really no point in releasing it as a single. It doesn't really matter what he releases at this point, because it won't get high in the charts, but at least Lock All The Doors has a bit more chance to get airplay on the radio than The Right Stuff as it's a bit more generic and has that "Oasis related" thing. And airplay means attention, which means more interest in the album.
I agree that The Right Stuff is the better song though. No doubt about that.
Oh what the heck. Who am I kidding. It doesn't matter what he chooses.

There are pretty much zero reasons for Noel to release TRS as a single. It would cost him some money, some airplay, some possible fans, all neglegible, but for what? People on here would be happy. Awesome - of course, people on here are already pretty big fans who buy everything he releases anyway.

Some songs would not make good singles, however good they are. I love Shes Electric, one of my favs, but it wouldnt have made a good single. Really? I think it would have made a perfect single... Granted, perhaps not for a band who'd just released an album with Wonderwall, DLBIA, Some Might Say, Morning Glory, and Champagne Supernova on it, but for regular bands (including latter day Oasis), it would fit the bill perfectly. I don't know if you still live in Japan or what, but in Britain, She's Electric still receives A LOT of radio play, as far as Oasis records go. I don't listen to radio much, so I'm happy to hear it's getting lots of airplay. To me, Shes Electric has grown into one of Oasis' best but at the time, I don't think it would have made a good single. Maybe it's to do with the lyrics. Although I wouldn't want them any other way, I can see them being a problem if released as a single in 1995/6. And as you said, that album was just so strong, people would be in uproar if Shes Electric was released instead of say Wonderwall. |
