Agree with DYKWIM.
The chorus is pretty shit, especially compared to how great the verses are.

If the production wasn't awful...IF Fade In-Out was just as epic as the live version, instead of totally underwhelming...IF a minute here and there was lost from the songs over 6 minutes... it COULD have been the best album they ever put out... You don't even need to stretch your imagination, if Noel had just put this out instead... D'You Know What I Mean? Be Here Now Stand By Me My Sister Lover Stay Young Don't Go Away The Girl In The Dirty Shirt My Big Mouth Going Nowhere I Hope, I Think, I Know All Around The World ...I think it would have been their second best behind Morning Glory. *I get that some might not like My Sister Lover, but take that off and replace Stand By Me with the Time Flies version and it works all the same. Just a really great collection of songs. My Sister Lover is by far the worst track oasis mk1 ever released. Genuinely terrible

I think the choruses to DYKWIM and All Around the World are both brilliant - DYKWIM is a little generic but till MASSIVE but AATW's is genuinely great imo. I think Stand By Me's is just a little lacking but still great. My ideal Be Here Now always changes but I think this would have been their best album:
1. D'You Know What I Mean?* 2. My Big Mouth** 3. Stay Young* 4. Stand By Me ** 5. I Hope, I Think, I Know 6. Fade In-Out (live version) 7. Don't Go Away 8. Be Here Now (live version)* 9. It's Gettin' Better (Man!!)* 10. All Around the World *
*shortened ** heavily shortened

I don't like all this 'shortened Be Here Now' talk. Make it even longer!

I don't get the desire for a "naked" version. The bloated, over the top, outrageous ridiculousness that the studio version is and represents, is the entire fucking point of BHN in the first place. Stripping all of that away would make BHN lose its unique charm, and I think many calling for that version would be greatly disappointed. Yeah I agree with what you're saying. BHN is what it is, it captured a moment in time. If it was re recorded or produced it would take away the feeling it captured. However I would like to hear demos of the songs, hopefully the mustique demos or songs the recorded during the WTSMG sessions and during the soundchecks of gigs the Naked version makes a lot of sense : strip away the 40 unnecessary layers of guitars, just the backbone drums bass, one or two tracks of rhythm guitars and the lead, and you would get something that breathe, but still heavy. It would be a rework more than a "naked" version, but some tracks could benefit a lot from it, simply because the layers of guitars hide the fantastic drums and vocals, sometimes.

Alive, I Will Believe, Take Me Away, The Fame, and all the covers they did (I'm thinking of Noel's butchering of 'Heroes' predominantly here) are all far worse imo

Hmmm yeah I'm not too keen on them re doing the whole album like a "let it be naked" project but maybe if they just did one or two songs rather than doing the whole thing. I would choose "don't go away" and hmmm I dunno what other track.
...or a controversial thought, what about a remix of a track by chemical brothers, UNKLE, wizards sleeve, prodigy etc. UNKLE would be my choice, but I don't think there are any BHN tracks which would suit a remix.

Loved it then and still do! Maybe because I was lucky enough to see them 3x on that tour. Never got to see them after.

Just had another thought....
Bit OTT :-) It's never going to happen but what if they did and acoustic set and reworked some of the songs ie like Noel reworked don't go away for his acoustic shows a few years back
Obviously some songs don't suit acoustic like IGBM or MBM.
Just think a stripped down acoustic arrangement may show the songs in a new light. I'm thinking vocals, Acoustic guitar, gem on electric, keyboards and terry kirkbride style drum set up. Perhaps a choir?
Sadly the band would need to reform first!

To be honest, BHN is my least favourite album. DYKWIM, Magic pie, Stand by me, Don't go away and All around the world are really good tunes, but that's it. Other songs are average at best or weak. Also it's overproduced, trying to be colossal and it's too long. I always skip songs to hear only the ones I like.. and I never skip any Oasis's songs on other albums, just this one.

It's a good album that I listen to from time to time.
When I first bought it at 15 years old (I think) I loved it, then I hated it. Now I like it after never listening to it for so long. Dunno why Noel's ashamed of it - still better than the majority of proper shite they released after.

Love the whole BHN Oasis era... at that time everything seemed to be immense and colossal. Love the hype around the release, when I first saw DYKWIM it was unbelievable, did not manage to see them live at that time, but the gigs look mega...boys on cocaine, good days and the music just reflected that
