To be fair, I'd dance like that if I was 24, had loads of money in the bank and was the singer in the best band in the world.

About the Wonderwall/DYKWIM thing...okay both songs use almost identical verse chords and a capo on 2nd but beyond that, they are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT songs in every respect. If anything, I think more of the song because it uses the chords of their biggest worldwide hit to make something so different - and for a highly anticipated comeback single! Wonderwall is a statement of vulnerability, DYKWIM is a statement of total vindication. Then's all that talking about Imagine/Don't Look Back In Anger and Wonderwall/Boulevard Of Broken Dreams also nonsense

It is frustrating that it's like someonelse said couple of tracks short and a few tweaks from being an album they would have been respected for
It's a fans album and i kind of like it that way.
I loved being one of only a few at the 2009 gigs who danced the fuck to My Big Mouth
And tracks like IHITIK are forgotten by the public, but adored by us fans....the connoisseurs.

I remember listening to the evening session with Steve Lamaq on BBC Radio 1 shortly before BHN was released. Lamaq played half the album one night and was going to play the rest the next evening. Unfortunately oasis management, ignition, prevented him playing the rest of the album saying that he didn't talk enough over the songs the previous night. Can anyone tell me which songs Steve Lamaq played? I've been trying to find out and can't find it anywhere

I was a teenager and was on a camping holiday with my parents at the time so listened to it on the radio in my dads car. I have no idea how I'm able to remember this! If u asked me what I had for dinner yesterday I would struggle to answer!

There's not a huge amount of commercial stuff on there, and obviously they'd need to play stuff that would get people's attention but still save something for people once they'd bought the album. I just find the massive release campaign around BHN really interesting

Can anyone tell me which songs Steve Lamaq played? I've been trying to find out and can't find it anywhere I think I still have the tape I recorded off the radio, but obviously haven't played it for the best part of 2 decades. There were 5 tunes played - D'You Know What I Mean was either released or all over the radio. As mentioned above IHITIK and Magic Pie were played. The show definitely started at 7:00PM with 'Be Here Now' and after 'Girl in the dirty shirt' Lamacq commented 'when you say something you make me believe' was a line that summed up Oasis. If I had to guess I'm pretty sure the other tune was All Around the World. Then the next night was supposed to be the other 5 tunes but Lamazq said Ignition had taken back the album and would refuse Radio 1 to let them be played.

BHN is a massive record. sure it would need a bit of editing here and there, nothing drastic though. Cut short a couple of minutes in the longer songs and you got a perfect record.
The songs are great, the production is unique, two ingredients that make a classic record.
I was never into the BHN is crap bandwagon. It's only a rock n roll record, and if you take it as it is, it's one of the finest in the history of music.
And those bsides, again...

no , don't edit a second from it. someone on here said in another post noel was thinking of cutting it up for the reissue/remaster, but thankfully ultimately decided to keep it as it is. be here now is my personal exile on main st. to me it just keeps on getting better and better with age.

Just burned a CD of BHN for me car, although cheekily took off the Reprise and added both Stay Young and Flashbax at the end, as my 1997 edition is scratched beyond belief haha.
Not the best Oasis album, but by far my most favorite Oasis album.

This is as simple as I can put it. (Sorry people who don't like BHN ) If you don't like/love Be Here Now, even with all its flaws then you aren't a true Oasis fan.

The flaws are kind of the best thing about Be Here Now

Yeah i had Exile on Main Street in mind too. Well i'd be up for an edit version, on the deluxe, remastered, with the original remastered too. A naked version would be good too. I kinda like the Beatles Let It Be Naked, it's whole different album. A BHN stripped down to a few layers of guitars would bring a new light to that amazing recording. The drums are massive and i'm pretty sure somewhere the bass lines are too. Would be cool to bring them forward a bit in the mix.

If the production wasn't awful...IF Fade In-Out was just as epic as the live version, instead of totally underwhelming...IF a minute here and there was lost from the songs over 6 minutes... it COULD have been the best album they ever put out...
You don't even need to stretch your imagination, if Noel had just put this out instead...
D'You Know What I Mean? Be Here Now Stand By Me My Sister Lover Stay Young Don't Go Away The Girl In The Dirty Shirt My Big Mouth Going Nowhere I Hope, I Think, I Know All Around The World
...I think it would have been their second best behind Morning Glory. *I get that some might not like My Sister Lover, but take that off and replace Stand By Me with the Time Flies version and it works all the same. Just a really great collection of songs.

I don't get the desire for a "naked" version. The bloated, over the top, outrageous ridiculousness that the studio version is and represents, is the entire fucking point of BHN in the first place. Stripping all of that away would make BHN lose its unique charm, and I think many calling for that version would be greatly disappointed.

All we need is a decent collection of live tracks on any re-issue. Reckon that's the pinicle of their live performances.

"At that time we thought it was fucking great, and I still think it's great. It just wasn't Morning Glory." - Liam Gallagher, 2003 exactly imo, still a classic

BHN is what it is, it captured a moment in time. If it was re recorded or produced it would take away the feeling it captured. However I would like to hear demos of the songs, hopefully the mustique demos or songs the recorded during the WTSMG sessions and during the soundchecks of gigs

Big fan at the time of release. I was caught up in the Oasis mania of everything needing to be colossal. Be Here Now fit the bill. I still love it even knowing it will never be considered a "classic" album or an album of cultural significance. Fun listen. Strange, I had the opposite reaction. Far from being fun, the first time I listened to it I just felt completely underwhelmed. The songs weren't as good and they went on for far too long. So my thoughts on the album now are exactly as they were at the time. I think the reason people get nostalgic about it now was simply because it was released at a time when Oasis were at the peak of their popularity. Be Here Now burst that bubble.

I got into Oasis during the SOTSOG era so it was after the BHN hype had died down,
I'd read about BHN and what an apparent car crash the album was. As such when I was buying their entire catalogue after loving SOTSOG, BHN was the last album I got (even after the Masterplan) because I was led to believe I didn't need it!!
When I got round to getting it (£16.99 in Woolworths!!, Old CD prices!) I was astonished at how good it was, I liked every song and loved every other song. I doubt it's a feeling I'll ever be able to replicate. It was euphoric madness

Horrible production. Mundane lyrics. Songs too long. More than one weak track. But without a doubt, the coolest album ever released. The horrible production you mention was a result of the "loudness war".

The only thing I don't like about Be Here Now is some of the chorus lyrics being a bit lacking. Stand By Me, D'You Know What I Mean? and All Around The World are basically just 2 lines repeated over a bunch of times.
I still absolutely love the songs but they could have been even better.
