1. A Rush of Blood To the Head (A masterpiece in my opinion, one of the best British albums in the past 25 years) 2. Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends (Their creative zenith, bursts with it and absolutely refreshing) 3. Parachutes (Wonderful debut. They sound so mature for being in their early 20s at the time) 4. X&Y (Gets way too much flak. A record that just needed a better tracklist.) 5. Mylo Xyloto (A creatively brilliant pop record that is unfortunately swallowed in its own ego by overproduction) 6. Ghost Stories (The dark times have begun) 7. A Head Full of Dreams (Coldplay, please, please come back and sing to me)

1. Square One 2. White Shadows 3. Fix You 4. Talk 5. Speed of Sound 6. A Message 7. Low 8. The Hardest Part 9. Gravity 10. Swallowed in the Sea 11. Til Kingdom Come This would have been pretty good. Is there something wrong with What If? It's one of my favorite tracks on the album. Ahahah I was starting to worry,it's actually one of my favourite Coldplay tracks ever

Nice to see A Head Full of Dreams at the bottom of so many rankings. Makes me feel good. I hope Coldplay wake up from this but we all know they won't. Too busy impressing their trendy Hollywood and pop friends.

Thought this from the many demos of the VLV era should've been made complete.
The rehearsal/demo of Lovers of Japan is a great capture of a song trying to find its place and its writer looking for something solid with it.

It is absolutely criminal that songs like The Fall of Man and Goodbye and Goodnight were not released during the VLV era. And any song from 1998-2009 that makes a Coldplay anthology will be better than the entirety of AHFOD. #fact

I got Beady Eye to work with a cool indie producer in Dave Sitek. This is a forum for change.

Once more with feeling...
DIVISION ONE
1. Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (9/10) (This is the only other album that gives me the same feeling as The Stone Roses - that bursting, colourful, summer joy. The feeling you get when you think about your favourite childhood holiday, a kind of grandiose melancholy. )
2. A Rush of Blood to the Head (9/10)
3. Parachutes (8.5/10)
DIVISION TWO
4. Mylo Xyloto / X&Y (6.5/10)
DIVISION THREE
5. Ghost Stories (6/10)
6. A Head Full of Dreams (4/10)

Amsterdam The Scientist Violet HillSpies Everything's Not Lost Love that song, it's got a early John Lennon solo vibe to it. It wouldn't have felt out of place on a Oasis album either. Their is a bit of anger in Chris Martin's voice as he belts it out. So many great tunes on Viva La Vida, it's a album that's sounding better with every year. Lovers in Japan is another belter from that album.

It is the type of album you belt out in the summer's night isn't it. I think in 20 years this will be the album many will say is Coldplay's classic, it's the closet Coldplay have got to U2's Achtung Baby in terms of getting out there and changing things up a little in a good way. I think in Lovers in Japan, Viva la Vida, Violet Hill, Strawberry Hill and 42 it's some of the band's greatest writing. I also love the little hidden tracks at the end of 42, Lovers In Japan and Yes. It's unbelievable to think this is the same band that releases some of the crap they do today.

It's probably my favourite Coldplay tune to date cause it sounds so different.

So many great tunes on Viva La Vida, it's a album that's sounding better with every year. Lovers in Japan is another belter from that album. Chris can sound cool as fuck when he puts that icy chill on his voice. GPASUYF, AROBTTH, Twisted Logic, Violet Hill, Yes, and possibly even Ghost Story all have it and they all sound great. Wish this band was still creatively alive, so it would be realistic to hope for more tracks with a detached, sneering tone like those. One of my favourite Coldplay lyrics/moments is the couplet on 42: You thought you might have been a ghost,You didn't get to heaven but you made it close. It's one of the few moments when it sounds like Coldplay are being sarcastic instead of almost painfully sincere. He sings it like he's mocking the listener to me, which is a cooler side of the Old Coldplay that we didn't get to see nearly as often as we should. Interestingly, I've been reading comments on different websites reports on the NME Awards and it seems that maybe it's finally becoming passé for people to pretend to hate Coldplay more than they actually do. People seem much more relaxed and able to accept their pop-rock ability. One of my biggest annoyances in music fandom are those people who just can't wait to tell you how much they hate Coldplay, even when the vast majority probably don't actually mind them or simply haven't heard them properly, but they know it's cool to hate them and so will make snide remarks. Obviously this isn't everyone but there's no doubt in my mind that a large portion of the people who will say they hate the band simply don't or haven't heard enough to warrant such an opinion.
