No venue is going to book you to an arena unless you have the success to suggest that you can fill it. You get the album sales THEN you get the big gigs. Like Noel did. What DOES kill public perception is booking yourself to massive venues and only selling half the seats or worse. Or touring too long like BDI on the DGSS tour when they couldn't even sell out the Swindon Oasis. On the touring front they were screwed over by Gem's injuries. Doesn't matter where they were booked in the end. Most of it would have to have been cancelled Castlefield is 6,000 capacity so hardly that big. Plus The Courteeners have sold out Manchester Arena 3 times despite selling less albums than BE so getting booked wouldnt be a problem. A hometown gig for Beady Eye would easilly shift at least 16,000 tickets. Actually a quick glance at Wikipedia shows The Courteeners have 2 gold certified records...so that means they have sold AT LEAST 600K in the UK assuming that neither of the other albums did much of anything. Which means they've sold at least twice what BDI have. I just doubt it was garangeed they had that much pull even in their hometown. And having less than a sold out hometown gig would have been an atrocity.

Right…. So do YOU think they had mass appeal? If so, how did they fail to move on to bigger venues or sell them out towards the end? Why did they split up and why did Andy say that Liam's heart wasn't in it anymore? All down to 'poor management' and Gem's injury? While I totally think that the latter two didn't help matters, I mean, come on… I never mentioned mass appeal YOU did .. Any artist ever playing to 1500 people in their hometown won't show a spectrum of fans it'll be the hardcore.. YOU was using that gig as an example of... You've justified your opinion fully so mine won't help matters, I mean, come on...

It was their first 2 albums that sold this amount, the second album took 5 months to go gold where their debut went gold week of release, so their sales have massive dwindled / slowed after their debut and the last 2 albums haven't been certificated yet. I'd guess that leaves their record sales of last 2 albums a similar amount to BE and their debut similar amount as DGSS.

jaq515 is right. i never undrestood their decision not to play a massive manchester show. it worked perfect for The Courteeners and it could work perfect for beady eye too and give them more press and momentum.they could have a massive manchester gig anytime and with a few good friends around as suport acts things could only get better for BE

The facts are these, they sold 6,200 tickets (Two Manchester Acadamy shows) sold out in 1 day. I would say based on that they could have sold out at least two Castlefield shows(Total 12,000 capacity).
My point is there was no real buzz around the band's gigs. All of which were run of the mill stuff so it's hardly going to attract a new audience.

I would've never said that Joking,I haven't seen many live bands as you can see in my signature,but BE were fantastic,Liam's voice was on top form too

It's a shame I couldn't see them Paradiso, Amsterdam 2013. They played 4 times in The Netherlands. Paradiso in March 2011, Lowlands in 2011, HMH in October 2011 and Paradiso in February 2014. I was at 3 of those gigs. Only their first Paradiso gig was sold out.

As seeing Oasis back in 2005 and 2009 in HMH myself, brought me tears when I saw Beady Eye with same, but rather empty venue.

All I'll say on the subject is that this is the best performance of either of them since 2000, and this really had me excited for the possibilities!

Really pissed still I flew to coachella for them and they cancelled. But I blame there failure on promotion and management, probably mentioned already... And the timing and choice of singles.

Manchester = not Beady Eye's home gig.
Liam maybe Manchester.
But Andy Bell = Oxford.
Gem = Durham.
Chris = Cheshire.
Jay = Philadelphia.
I know what you mean as Liam is the star but...
