Anyone else agree that Noel doesn't know how to pick a proper set list?
I just dont get it...he has all these amazing tunes and he always chooses the same shit every night. He never changes it up ever.
Of all the songs to open with you choose "do the damage"? Really?

I was pretty impressed with the setlist this time.
He did change the songs between the first few shows, playing songs like 'Alone On The Rope' and 'Shout It Out Loud'.
Do The Damage is a good opener; much better than the acoustic (It's Good) To Be Free. And it was something from this era of songs which is a positive.
What would your ideal setlist have been?

Apart from the fact that it's a great song, Noel scratching his guitar along the mic stand (i'm not sure this sentence is grammatically and vocabulary-wise correct but you probably know what i mean) justifies the choice of do the damage as the opener. Looks totally cool and sounds great as well.

thats been my beef with noel since i first stsrt following them around ..... he chose the same songs everywhere i went not even a improv . once in nyc they played the beacon two nights then later on they came back to stat island , set never changed..... why i said live he dissapoints me
im used to springsteen van halen gnr ect ect those cats never played the same set twice , bruce would play the meadowlands 10 nights on the trot and he never once would play the same exact set and he always added a few tunes and took out others they all did
sometimes with noel its like listening to a album but it costs alot more, thats his way why i never get excited for a tour once you see the setlist thats what youl get note for note
some like that i like spontainety in live shows, ill still go but i always come away wanting more spontaneity , to me thats what rock concerts are all about , not playing the same stuff note for note
not a critisism just a preference

We got a new interpretation of Champagne Supernova this time around. I think this was the first time we've heard Noel sing it at all. The Masterplan was absolutely fantastic to hear as well.
It's not an Oasis tour remember, so I think he did a good job of choosing the HFB songs.

I still wanted that 2015 version of DYKWIM... I would love to hear that but it would be a mellow, semi acoustic number like champagne supernova version. With the lead guitar player fucking up the guitar parts. Tough call. But he should change his set list every night, especially the oasis songs.

He's been a tad more adventurous so far, that version of champagne supernova was worth the ticket price alone!
However because noel never really changes the setlist is does make following the tour as a whole a lot more boring that it needs to be.
He should really change at least a few songs each leg, his excuse about "giving everyone the same experience" is a cop out. I'd make sure I bought a lot more tickets if I knew I'd get different songs each time.

Get rid of Dream On and Fade Away (the acoustic version makes me cringe) and put in Freaky Teeth and Simple Game of Genius and we're about there.

Digsy's Dinner is amazing live. Riverman didn't work well live, a bit boring

But why choose an average b-side to open with?
open with the hindu times ftw! That would instantly grab people by the balls and your off....
No....he picks a song half the people in the crowd never heard before.

I got the Chicago Bootleg from then

I think it's pretty cool he opens with a b-side from his solo stuff (And it's rocking)

Can't believe after all these years people expect Noel to be able to pick any sort of song list.
Even to this day we are getting "throwaway" songs on albums instead of stronger b-sides. And we don't need to bring up how disastrous some choices in the 90s proved to be.
As far as setlists go, we always had about 100 gigs identical on each tour. Call it laziness, whatever it was, you went to one gig and you'd seen them all. As great of an experience as it might have been.
If Oasis got back together you could literally pick a set of 22 absolute anthems that everyone would sing along to. Would we get it? Absolutely not. We'd get Meaning Of Soul instead of stop crying your heart out or a noel version of its good to be free instead of stand by me. Just the way it is.
No different to the solo career. Having said that I'm not a fan of him changing songs liam sang. Not because he can't do it. But because he has to change the melody and almost completely suck the life out of the songs. All influenced by the dreadful Ryan Adams Wonderwall cover.the only thing that saves the performances and makes them sound great is the anthemic atmosphere of the crowds
