Morrissey played only 4 Smiths songs out of 20 in his last tour setlist and he originally sang all of them. Morrissey only wrote 50% of all those songs. Noel wrote 100% of every song. You're not serious are you?

Champagne Supernova this way is fucking nonsense. Terrible. Get a grip. You do realise frjdoasis2 that you are not allowed to not like this version of CS. Go and punish yourself.

You're not allowed to not like CS, what version it is it doesn't matter imagine if someone didn't like the original. A load of forum members would have probably turned up at there house. I've only heard a little bit of it but I like Bob Dylan, a lot and it seems to have that sort of vibe. Noel is solo and on tour and can play whatever he wants and will no doubt make a decent job of them but there are quite a few that won't ever quite measure up without you know who in my eyes.

It obviously isn't as good as the original, I mean, that's an anthem But everytime he does his version of an Oasis song, I try to enjoy both the original and the new one as much as I can, one doesn't necessarily have to be better than the other

I do like to see what the setlist is and watch a few of his gigs online even if I have no urge to go and see him live.

Capisco, per me così l'ha un po' banalizzata. Questione di gusti.

Morrissey only wrote 50% of all those songs. Noel wrote 100% of every song. Liam sang on a lot of Oasis songs but I have more of a problem with Liam singing them now, like he did with Beady Eye, than Noel singing them, as he indeed wrote them. I dont have a problem with Liam singing them either. I can understand the argument but Liam made them famous. The ones he sung on the album are as much his as they are Noel's.

You're not serious are you? Deadly serious. Morrissey didn't write 50% of the Smiths' songs. He wrote 100% of the lyrics and vocal melody while Marr did the guitar work. As great as that was, Morrissey has shown again and again that he can do brillant songs with less brillant guitarists at his side.

As great as that was, Morrissey has shown again and again that he can do brillant songs with less brillant guitarists at his side. I maybe didn't express it properly. When I said 50%, I was trying to say that both Morrissey and Marr had just as much to do with the Smiths songs as each other. The chords and the guitar parts being Johnny's half and the lyrics and the melody being Morrissey's half. In my view that's a 50/50 split. And even in his solo career, Morrissey has cowriters on, I think, every single song he's released (correct me if I'm wrong on this). These cowriters are filling the writing role that Johnny had in the Smiths.

These cowriters are filling the writing role that Johnny had in the Smiths. But they didn't influence the quality of his songs all that much. He has worked with guitarists that are pretty much average and still banged out quality tunes - they give him the chords, he does the vocal melody. I know what I think is more important. But of course it's a little different from Noel where the song itself is 100% him.
