jesus how hard is it to understand. you can download it now for 99p without pre-ordering it. if you have pre-ordered the album you have already paid for it so you can download it instantly. if you pre-order the album between now and release you will get both singles and the b-sides instantly. So the only sales that are going to chart this week are those that have bought it on it's own but haven't preordered the album already then.

No that's not right. You don't pay in advance on iTunes you pay when you download the album. I preordered the album 2 months ago and then 'instantly' downloaded BOTMI today and got charged 99p for the single I bought it without preordering the album. So assuming I was in the UK it would count then?

As you can see my iTunes receipt I got from my 'pre ordered' version I got charged 99p for a track and it doesn't even mention CY so it should chart. I think the confusion Is coming as some pre orders of an album Give you a genuine freebie ie preorder this and well Give you a track free that's when it can't chart.

Funny thing is that it did decrease the amount that I would pay if I preordered the album now. So now I wonder if I preordered the album...would it remove my single purchase from chart eligibility? Or would I count on the singles chart and then again on the album chart in 6 weeks?

No at the moment you have bought one track you've paid and Purchased a single track so that goes towards its total as the best sold track (the charts) If you used apples 'complete my album' feature which the pre order would do then aslong as you do that with in 180 days they allow you to complete that album (so 9 tracks + your single makes a complete album) and it'll count as 1 album sales. You don't pay for that Album until you download it so it wouldn't count as a sale until March 2nd

My cousin, a devout Radiohead follower has traditionally given Noel little or no time of day being that Oasis played to their strengths and understandably to a musicians PoV it was frowned upon.
But he absolutely loves what noel is doing now, to the point where he is seeing him at the O2 in march. I think to many of us crave LF or DLBIA.
It's s game of opinions guys. I hated TBOTMI on first listen, I can honestly understand at this point where noel was coming from stating I was one of his best songs. If gets better and better. Flat my arse. Get better headphones haters.

Well that's more confirmation that it is classed as a single as singles are called songs on iTunes invoices, where as albums are classed as playlists

Remember when you used to walk into a shop and buy a single and that was it :-)

It's the normal chart, of iTunes, obviously! I've never bought a digital album so not obvious to me :-) I find it weird that iTunes include preorders in their charts. How can an album that isn't officially released and no one has even heard be riding high in their chart? If he's been in their top 20 for months on preorders alone, when that's all summed up he's pretty much guaranteed a number one in March then. Unless Adele drops a bomb!

Well, highest position for CY on Itunes was a #18 in october. Then it spent like 20 days in the Top 100-> Check out on your own www.itunescharts.net/uk/artists/music/noel-gallaghers-high-flying-birds-2/albums/chasing-yesterday-deluxe/ Well, a #1 is guaranteed. He's still Noel Gallagher, HFB1 was the second most bought rock album in 2011 in the UK, after Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto Ballad of the Mighty I Vinyl 7" is at #2 on Amazon UK's Vinyl Chart; #99 in Music #19 on Amazon MP3; #2 on Indie & Alternative

BOTMI is now #8 on iTunes...
It's just been overtaken by a song called "Heroes (we could be)", which as a title sounds like David Bowie, (Noel Gallagher) and Yoda collaborated...
