First Circa Waves albums is out! Pure Indie Pop-Rock.
The chorus is brilliant. This song got a potential to become a hit
This song screams The Smiths so bad (0:40)
I do think this guy can become quite famous with a good promotion. They're under Virgin EMI, hopefully they'll spend some money for the promotion

I thought the Circa Waves album was ok but nothing special really. They're quite good at what they do to be fair.

I'm my opinion there are 4 potential hits (at least for the indie rock world): Young Chasers, Fossils, Stuck in my teeth, T-Shirt Weather. The rest of the album is just ok except Get Away which is good. I'm reviewing it for rockon.it

The rest of the album is just ok except Get Away which is good. I'm reviewing it for rockon.it Yeah the album has a whole is solid. Good enough for what it is - a throwback mid 00's indie pop/rock (not rock/pop) album. Sounds a lot like Albert Hammond's solo stuff. It has 17 songs but it is just 50 mins. My biggest gripe with it is that it is pretty MOR and generic. They sound like pretty much any indie band from 2000-2008. Still, T-Shirt Weather is one of the catchiest songs of the year definitely has hit potential. Stuck In My Teeth then Get Away are probably their next best bets to get a song on the radio. A couple other good songs on there as well. They picked a perfect time to release it though this is a 100% spring/summer beach windows down road trip album.

They're doing quite well indeed. Young Chasers is #8 in the midweek chart. Not bad for a band who isn't 2 yr old yet.

I'm really happy with the new Circa Waves record, but I loved all the tracks that were already out so that's not surprising, apart for those my favourite has to be The Luck Has Gone, great tune
The only concern for me is that it sounds a bit samey (same with Royal Blood and The Balcony, which are my favourite debuts from last year),but they've got plenty of time to improve and this is a great start

As far as modern pop stars go I really don't mind Mars that much. I'll never buy his albums or go to a show but the dude is a complete workhorse when it comes to conquering the charts. I respect him for sure. His singles are all decent for what they are. A nice throwback male pop star, whose songs have great melodies. That said he does knick stuff rather obviously whether it be The Police or Michael Jackson.

Your favourite albums so far (besides Chasing Yesterday)?
I would say:
1. Wand - "Golem" 2. Pond - "Man It Feels Like Space Again" 3. Drenge - "Undertow" 4. Circa Waves - "Young Chasers" 5. Mini Mansions - "The Great Pretenders" Circa 6. Two Gallants - "We Are Undone" 7. Public Service Broadcasting - "The Race for Space" 8. Mark Ronson - "Uptown Special"
But they are all pretty close.
Songs (no specific order). Some of these were released in 2014 as singles, but still.
Wand - "Melted Rope" Wand - "Flash Tour" Tame Impala - "Let It Happen" Mark Ronson ft. Kevin Parker - "Daffodils", "Summer Breaking" Mini Mansions - "Heart of a Stone" Courtney Barnett - "Pedestrian at Best" Mark Knopfler - "Beryl" Kendrick Lamar ft. someone - "These Walls" Public Service Broadcasting - "Gagarin" Two Gallants - "We Are Undone" The Districts - "4th and Roebling" Circa Waves - "T Shirt Weather" Circa Waves - "Young Chasers" Drenge - "Favourite Son"
A pretty solid year as of now I would say.

Funnily enough someone was talking about Circa Waves in another thread and 3FM were just playing them at that exact moment (I follow this "what we are playing right now" account, wasn't actually listening to the radio). If that isn't a sign I should check them out, then I don't know what is.

Sufjan Stevens, Laura Marling and Mini Mansions have been the albums I've enjoyed most this year, the former particularly, it's fantastic! Only listened to The Tallest Man on Earth's new album twice but it might join that list as well.
As far as songs go, I'd say these have been my favourites so far
Florence + the Machine - What Kind of Man Sufjan Stevens - Fourth of July The Prodigy - The Day Is My Enemy Mini Mansions - Vertigo Modest Mouse - Lampshades On Fire Kanye West - All Day Hot Chip - Huarache Lights The Maccabees - Marks To Prove It

That said he does knick stuff rather obviously whether it be The Police or Michael Jackson. The more i read about him, his past, things he's said and his collaborations with others the more i seem to like him. Not just your average run of the mill pop star, far from it. He actually sings well, puts on a good show. Can also play piano, guitar and drums, writes or co writes his own songs and songs for others also. Seriously talented, with great taste in music I used to be of the same opinion as you mate, respect him but wouldn't buy his records or go to a gig, but now i can honestly say I'd love to go to see one of his shows, and I've already bought both his albums. His influences seem to touch on everything from The Police and Micheal Jackson to Elvis, James Brown and Bob Marley too. He seems to be at home performing many different types of music, but with his own style. I just find him really impressive, and now I'm hooked. Uptown funk has been played to death on TV/RADIO these last few months but I'm still not tired of it to be honest, just love it. And even though its a Mark Ronsons song technically, wouldn't be half as good without Bruno, no way.

^ I still love Uptown Funk too.
Listened to that Circa Waves stuff and I realized I have heard a few of their songs before on 3fm. It's alright, pleasant sound but nothing amazing. Pretty average, actually.
