Miles Kane's solo debut album was good. I still remember him supporting Beady Eye in 2011 and when he kicked the gig with "Better Left Invisible", my friend and I were like "My godness!". It was blow minded. But he f**ked up with his crappy second album.
The Last Shadow Puppets first album was great. I've seen them in Paradiso in 2008. I was amazed by Kane. He would support Kasabian in Paradiso in 2010, but cancelled at the last minute. I've never got to see The Rascals, but they had some good tunes.

He puts on a good live show, that's for sure - really energetic. Not sure how many more miles (if you'll pardon the pun) he has in him as a solo artist but it'd certainly be nice to see another Shadow Puppets record and interesting to see what direction it takes.

I liked a lot of Miles debut and his non album single "First of My Kind". You're right, "Better Left Invisible" sounds like something on John Lennon's Plastic Bono Band. Think "Well, Well, Well". His follow up album to me was flat, boring and contrived. Miles def is over hyped. Most people think he's this up and coming artist. Well he's almost 30. Let's see some real development over being a Weller/Gallagher Brothers disciple.

Luca Turelli (one L? Dunno) has me on the fence. I hope the whole album isn't random lyrics as Promethius is.

There's a few decent albums out today. I've already mentioned my thoughts on Florence's new album in her thread but Jamie XX and Soak's debut albums are both good, the former especially.

Sure, I got mine when it came out and I absolutely love it. Heard really good things about it so far. Got pretty good reviews, but everyone I know who got it loves it. Pretty excited for it I've listened to it a few times now and it's really grown on me. I said it before but it manages to be very eclectic at the same time as sounding like a cohesive album. My favourite track is Pick It Up.

Pretty excited for it I'm loving it and loving the fact that Weller always tries something new, but one of my friends who's a Weller fan too, isn't very pleased with his new album, so you might wouldn't love it, but everyone has their own taste. Let me know what you think of the album once you heard it.

Best week for a hip hop rap fan. A$AP Rocky's release is his most consistent and developed. Everyday is bound to be a hit. That song is one of the best songs I've heard this year. The production is top notch. A$AP can swagger and yet be so smooth like few in the game now. Wavybone, Excuse Me, Electric Body (featuring Schoolboy Q, and a couple more are all pretty great jamz.
Chance the Rapper, whom I wasn't a fan of really before (thought he was overrated) released a side project album entitled Surf. The group is called Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment. I wouldn't call it jazz but it is a blend of so many genres in a modern way. It has a lot of personality and ideas on it. It is catchy and experimental. Check out Sunday Candy, that's something that could be on the radio. Maybe its a bit to weird though.
Snoop Dogg's new album BUSH is also very solid. Very easy on the ears, relaxing jams. Snoop is still Snoop, but Pharrell's production really helps as well.
That said Kendrick Lamar's second album is the best hip hop album of the year.
Haven't fully digested Florence + The Machine's new album, but on first listen it was pretty good. Her debut album is a legitimately great album. Her second is overstuff but it has its fair share of great songs as well. It is better to not over play her second. It is an investment to listen to but when you do take the time to listen to it, its a pretty solid record. This third is very promising after hearing it twice. Ship to Wreck has really grown on me. I'll have to report back on this though.

New Beirut song is pretty decent. Not much new going on here, just your standard Beirut song but that's not a bad thing!

Finally got a chance to sit and listen to it, I really enjoyed it I think I'll need a few listens for some of the songs to properly sink in, but it starts and finishes really well, and I absolutely love the sound. One of the best-sounding records I've heard all year.

I'll have to report back on this though. Great perspective on what's been a really exciting year for hip-hop/rap. I remember you had some cool things to say when Kendrick's album came out, and it just keeps sounding better and better, gonna be a hard album to top, although Kanye seems to be gearing up. I freaked out when I heard Everyday. I was kinda disappointed by ASAP Rocky's first album. He talked up such interesting influences, and I didn't think his first album was that groundbreaking. So I was really excited when he was talking up his love of 60s psychedelic rock in the run-up to the album, it's such a unique sound, no-one's really making that kind of hip-hop atm, and I think he could really push boundaries, he seems to see music in quite an unprejudiced way. I think everyday was one of the last things he completed, so hopefully it's a sign of things to come for him. One of the best songs I've heard all year.

They're the second band I discovered by an accident by listening to the NPR Radio. For anyone who loves to discover new bands, new musig, great music, I highly recommend this radio station. They've got loads of brilliant sessions, live concerts on there. www.npr.org/music/

Anyone else on here listen to Metric? I'd put them up there as one of my current favourite bands. They announced their new album Pagens in Vegas is coming out in September today and have released 2 tracks off it. The Shade is instantly up there as one of my favourite songs this year after coming out a couple weeks ago. Cascades is an interesting song too, its really heavy on synths. Their last album won alternative album of the year at the Junos (Canadian version of the Brits).

I listened to their whole discography a few weeks ago as I knew only a couple of songs from them and I wanted to check out what else they did. It's a solid band, I quite like them and I'm happy they're releasing new material I'll definitely check out the new songs!

Bullet For My Valentine's Venom Interesting how they're going to sound after the departure of the drummer (I think) The new single No Way Out has already blown me away so I can definitely see a return to form on the rise! and a very good return to form if you ask me.
