New music is great, you just need to find it. I can count at least 65 songs I really like from 2015. Yeah I agree. People are too quick to say music isn't good anymore when there's loads of great stuff out there. I've listened to about 35-40 albums this year and sure, they've not all been great but I've enjoyed about three quarters of them while there's been some standouts like Sufjan Stevens, Mini Mansions, NGHFB, Drenge etc.

However, that is certainly not the case at all. Loads of great music going on in the world. Great sounds. You just gotta seek it out more because the traditional means of discovering music/bands is almost gone (Radio, TV). The Internet has been a double edged sword for the music industry. On one hand it made finding any bit of music extremely easy. On the flip side it diluted the market place, too much music to explore or appreciate. So many bands fall into th cracks or dismissed quickly after one so-so song or album. Sometimes bands/artists need time to develop but in this fast paced world forget about it. Bands currently rocking my world.... Arcade Fire Radiohead The National Tame Impala Spoon Wilco Deerhunter The War On Drugs Future Islands Temples Real Estate TV On The Radio Sufjan Stevens Bon Iver Vampire Weekend Sigur Ros Cut Copy

Beecakes World of Things
Muse's Drones
And a new The Real People album (which may not be out this year)
Otherwise, I've really enjoyed listening to this year:
Imagine Dragons Smoke + Mirrors
Paul Wellers Saturns Pattern
And TV On The Radios Seeds

I put on Spotify almost all the songs I like from 2015 so I don't forget them (lol), this is the link if you want (no specific order, for some artists like Tame Impala there is only one song, I just need one song for each artist to remember)

Just read that Beach House is releasing the new album called "Depression Cherry" in August and they're playing in Paradiso in November. I missed them last time when they were here, but gig on Monday evening is not very convinient. Anyone heard a new song? Lennon2217? Cast?

I couldn't see anything about any new songs yet when they made the announcement earlier but hopefully it won't be too long before we hear some.

I really loved (and still do) Bloom and I'm very curious how the next album will sound like after making such a great album like Bloom.

Also anyone heard FFS (Franz Ferdinand & Sparks) yet? I'm seeing them next month, but haven't got the album yet. I did listen to a couple of songs and I'm looking forward to see them live. I've seen Franz Ferdinand once, but this co-operation with Sparks looks very interesting.

No single yet but maybe one in a week or two hopefully.
Words can't express how much I love Beach House. Seriously one of the best bands around. Reading over this thread people saying modern music sucks and doesn't have any great band, y'all just aren't looking hard enough. Seriously none of Beach House's albums are even close to being mediocre, they're all good with their lastest three being absolutely fantastic. A surprisingly awesome live act as well. Saw them three times on the Bloom tour and they didn't disappoint.
For people who aren't familiar I suggest their albums but if you want a taste here's some great songs by them: Silver Soul, Norway, Walk in the Park, Lover of Mine, Take Care, Gila, Heart of Chambers, Wild, Lazuli, Other People. Yeah.... that's a lot but damn fine band.

With an album announcement I always expect the single to come along with it. Not this time sadly.

There is good new music today but no great music and great bands. Yes, they are. There's plenty of great music and great bands if you search enough.

I've ordered Nev Cottee's new album Strange News From The Sun, it's due out on Monday and I can't wait to hear it.
If you haven't heard his first album Stations then I highly recommend it.

It was released last year, but I'm actually enjoying Elephant Stone's album. Going by the name, they sounds like they're influenced by the Roses.

Thats what I thought too, but no, their music is similar to Tame Impala and Temples. I knew about them for quite some time, but never got to listen to their songs untill now.

New Contrive from the perspective of the drummer sounds great. More excting (and bells) than a wedding

Hope Syd Arthur will release AA style album. I've seen him supporting Weller in 2012 and I wasn't impressed by him to be honest, but I'm loving his recent work with AA.

This really isn't much more than speculation, but word is that Alex Turner and Miles Kane are giving The Last Shadow Puppets their second lease of life this year.
A fan of the band met their producer/drummer James Ford at Primavera Sound in Barcelona a couple of days ago and was apparently told that this year will bring a new LSP album. The guy seems pretty legit too, he's met AM on a couple of occasions as well as Miles and various other big names in music. Alex and Miles have been photographed together a fair bit recently, and when rumours emerged of Alex and James Ford being seen around a studio last month, some jumped to a conclusion that they'd record the Bond theme but, if the sighting did indeed occur, could well have been something else.
I was a big fan of the debut, the songs would be great in their own right but the cinematic production and labyrinthine verses showed a new dimension to what Alex was capable of producing. Nothing confirmed, but fingers very much crossed.

Most of the Last Shadow Puppets album was written by Alex Turner & most of his first album co-written with Alex Turner? Had a few good tunes on it though so be cool to get another.
