A really depressing realization just hit me…we've "heard" 50% of the deluxe album already! Between the first single, the remix, DTD, Freaky, Dying of Light demo, Revolution Song demo, and Lock all Doors demo, we've heard seven of the fourteen tracks before! ("Heard" = we know the melody)
I want the old days back when you popped in an Oasis album and all but the single was unknown. That anticipation was better than sex.
So who's with me here?! I'm gonna resist all temptation to listen to Mighty I and Riverman before March 2nd….(A more powerful test of self-restraint, I cannot remember…)

We have absolutely no idea how The Dying Of The Light and Lock All The Doors ended up. So I remain optimistic.

Bit worried about The Mexican...
On Noel's interview with Steve Lamacq (a great listen), he was very adamant that it is just "throwaway" - already alarm bells are ringing! - and then he says how's people have been saying to him "why's that on there?" in relation to the track listing. Noel's response of it working in the context of the album smacks of DOYS, with its appalling back end of High Horse Lady, Ain't Got Nothin and The Nature Of Reality

That's the impression I got from the interview... But then again its over 5 minutes long...

Noel's response of it working in the context of the album smacks of DOYS, with its appalling back end of High Horse Lady, Ain't Got Nothin and The Nature Of Reality Difference is that Noel only wrote one of those. I'm fine with it. I want variety on this album. I've heard a million different Revolution Songs from Noel and he's been making songs similar to Freaky Teeth since DOYS. I'm MORE happy that Noel is being honest about his own tracklisting rather than someone hailing it as the next Revolver. Besides, the last time Noel was unsure of a song was What a Life. Remember when he said that half the office questioned why it was being on the album and the other half thought it was brilliant. So, I wouldn't play into what's being said until we actually hear. If being an Oasis fan has taught anyone anything, it's not to trust what Gallagher says about his own music

He's also including the song we've already "heard" like Lock the Doors. However, I don't think that will be an issue. If we get a third single then it will be very close to the album release...if not the same week as the Japanese release on February 25th. We may only hear 4 tracks max prior to the Japanese release. And if it's six it will probably be a couple days ahead of the Japanese release.

There's a bit about the new album in the new Q magazine which says The Mexican is from the AA album, not sure if that's been mentioned before.

There's a bit about the new album in the new Q magazine which says The Mexican is from the AA album, not sure if that's been mentioned before. So that means the following songs bled over from those AA sessions: - Ballad of The Mighty I - The Right Stuff - The Mexican - Freaky Teeth

I haven't heard Lock All The Doors yet. Yay! This will be the only Noel solo song which we've heard in an earlier form with Liam on vocals right? That will be a bit weird.

It matters not who wrote the songs, Noel picked them just the same. He chose tunes that kept in line with the pseudo-psychedelia of the first half of DOYS, when he COULD have gone for tunes that weren't even written by him but were far superior ie. Four Letter Word, Boy with the Blues, The Morning Son...

Technically there's Setting Sun too. That wasn't Oasis but it was with the Chemical Brothers so still not entirely solo but you get my point

I still think it'll be a bit weird despite that precedent!
Just listened to My Sister Lover for the first time in donkeys. The lyrics basically say he can't believe in God because he's getting it on with his sister. Got to be Noel's weirdest lyric.. have I missed something!?

Wouldn't be surprised if most of these songs are from the AA album that he threw out. Just reworked, obviously.

Most of the stuff about the album isn't new bar the mexican being an AA track, but he says he'd like to produce The Libertines new record if he had the time and when the inevitable Beady Eye question comes up he says he'd like him to do a solo album.
