Fuck! The fanboys have gone rogue tonight! I like 'Leave My Guitar Alone' matt. Its retro and derivative, sounds like a Beatles demo where they were singing anything while working out the lyrics. Its not reinventing the wheel but hey who cares, its a nice tune. I only asked you because its a stick you often take out to beat other bands with but apparently due this release being unofficial (haha) its ok. I don't really know where I have I said anything in this thread that could put me as being a fanboy. Well I'm referring to going in swings and roundabouts with jaq? There's being pastiche in a comic like manner which is deliberately derivative. This song is one of them, like Boneheads Bank Holiday, or When I'm 64 from The Beatles, but it's certainly not good enough for an album release. But there is also being derivative without intending to be a pastiche - like The Good Rebel, and like some Beady Eye tunes - that's a big problem for many bands and the biggest crime from anyone in Oasis. The problem with some folk here is that I apparently slate Beady Eye for everything, but I'm open in my admiration for their tunes which try something different, like a few of the tracks on Be. Likewise Noel - it's not being biased, it's just about quality. And I'd prefer it if both Noel or Beady Eye stop trying to sound like acts from the 60s. Noel seems more open to stepping away from this, whereas Beady Eye to me seemed stuck in a rut at times, incredibly annoying considering they were at their best when they sounded modern - which was evident of untapped ability there I think - rather than 1960s spoof band.

Well Boneheads Bank Holiday was written for Bonehead to do? This is probably one of many songs Noel has knocking about that he hasn't finished properly so he chucked it on. I don't think its a deliberate pastiche just chucking together some lyrics. He might well have released this in 23 years.

He likes posting shit, insulting the mods, leaving the forum and then coming back with another account and a picture of a potato as avatar. I insulted the mods once a long time ago because something I posted got moved to the playpen unnecessarily (can't remember what). They've held a grudge against me ever since.

matt's actual point still stands anyway - nobody except hardcore fans will hear it, so that's far from a widespread release which means Noel could use a lesser song. I'd rather have a mediocre Noel song than no new Noel song at all.

I'd rather have a mediocre Noel song than no new Noel song at all. yeah releasing an album in his second biggest market to an population of 129 million (vs the UK 1/2 of that) ..Plus fans often buy japanese releases ... NO BODY will hear that track

Think the good rebel was a good track myself I don't really get the hate for this tune, to be honest. I think it's great even though it was probably the worst thing to come out of the last album cycle (which says a lot about its quality). I really like the chorus and the drum pattern (with the change in the middle of the song) mimicking Ticket to Ride. If it really comes from the Heathen Chemistry era, it's easily one of the best songs from that period.

And someone please start an official Beady Eye vs. HFB (or Liam vs. Noel) thread. It gets really tiring reading the same crap every time a new song gets released and the argument always seems to be instigated by the same users. I really don't understand how some people can get so annoyed by some other people on the Internet not liking their favourite band.
