I couldn't care less if the single doesn't chart. Go and listen to the Number 1 single in the charts right now - it is fucking dreadful. If thats what denotes a number one single, then the charts don't even deserve Noel

The way we digest music has changed. Streaming was brought into the charts to reflect this, I've no issue with that.

Times have changed the fact that 100 streams equals 1 sale means the charts are still heavily weighted towards bought copies. The charts are supposed to represent popular music which still the case, the most popular songs are steamed most. People have just as much opportunity to noel / oasis / beady eye as they do Taylor swift if they choose to steam her she deserves to be higher in the charts

I know you only took her as an example, but Taylor Swift is one of those artists getting fucked by streams believe it or not

I just think that even 2 or 3 or 4 years ago was easier for bands like Muse, Kasabian, Noel, Blur etc to chart in the singles chart. Now they can't even break the top 40. And it's sad. I don't know what changed, you tell me. But it's shit.
UK Singles chart is full of american plastic singers of hip hop and pop. And the kids like it because you know, they have to like it because the songs are everywhere. Once a guy said to me that American Oxygen by Rihanna is real music, not Champagne Supernova or Bohemian Rhapsody. They're fucking their minds.
I think that the rule of the streaming on albums chart is okay. Singles chart? Not sure. Let's add Youtube at this point, let's fuck it up even more

I thought she didn't want to be on streaming to do with money/royalties? If that is what you mean that's completely different issue nothing to do with the charts.

Bands aren't as popular anymore. Music is always recycling itself and guitar music and bands will rise again. What I don't get is this notion that streaming is creating unfair charts. Like I said previously people buy their spotify account and they can listen any act if they listen to noel or Taylor swift or blur or any act it costs the same. It should be argued like YT they can discover any artist for 'free' as they already paid for their subscription so must make the playing field fairer?

It depends. Without the streaming In the Heat of the Moment would have been a #16 or #17 (I can't remember) single. With the streaming it lost 10 positions. So no, it's not the same. With the streaming What a Life wouldn't have been as successful And paying 6 pounds or whatever a month and listening to a song it's not like buying it. Also I think that count in the chart the streams of people who haven't a premium account too, but I'm not sure. If so it's like Youtube. My opinion is that for the album chart is okay, for the singles chart not. They need to fix it and balancing it more. I quite agree with the last part

If Youtube streams would be counted, Gangnam Style would be #1 for the next 30 years.
