Tbh I haven't seen a lot if guys dress like Alex Turner. And how many bands cite them as an influence? And which bands? I'm genuinly curious.

Arctic Monkeys don't influence youth culture in any way, kids dress more like Justin Bieber and the guys from One Direction than like Alex Turner, and they don't influence youth culture as much as Oasis did either, actually Oasis were probably the last band to do it

The fact that Liam has a successfully growing clothing range shows that he is still relevant.
Even though it's a bit embarrassing seeing 'Liam clones' walking about, it's encouraging that the spirit of Oasis is well and truly alive.

I think people have a different perception of whatrelevancy means and that's the problem of this thread.

Well, whatever the case, the arctic monkeys are relevant and Oasis isn't.
Next Oasis album, if it were to happen, won't have a global hit - the arctic monkeys next album probably will.
I don't even like the arctic monkeys, by the way....maybe a few songs but they have the buzz.
I would argue Arcade Fire are the most relevant band or Tame Impala, making the best music right now, influencing the most other artists but I could be wrong.
All I know is Oasis aren't relevant. They reform, sell out some shows, but not changing the musical landscape.
Anyway, the weather broke.
Thank you all for entertaining me this winter. I'm generally on the verge of pissing my pants with laughter when I check the forum.
Thanks.

The thing is,as famous as Arcade Fire and Tame Impala might be in America, they're not THAT relevant around the world,Tame Impala can't even headline festivals FFS

Arctic Monkeys are not culturally influential, really who the fuck wants to be Alex Turner? And I'm talking about the casual guy walking 'round the streets, not about their fans obv And how many bands did they influence? I'd say The Strokes and The Libertines have (or have had) a bigger impact on youth culture than the Arctic Monkeys ever did They've got the buzz? yeah cause they got a big hit with Do I Wanna Know, but to be quite honest,Wonderwall is as relevant as Do I Wanna Know and will always be

I have never heard a Libertines song on the radio in my life. Or not consciously.
I feel a bit isolated here or something. Most of the bands mentioned above get played here, but not regularly. Including Oasis, whose biggest hit was #8. I think that says enough about their impact here. Feels a bit weird to discuss the relevance of bands while they aren't relevant here.

HAHAHAHA im also pissing my pants. god bless the idiots of this forum Who exactly is this directed at? LIB? Such short sightedness, now people don't agree changed the bands and insults people, he's an idiot (which is just the insult he normally says we all idiots?) Oasis are relevant in UK at least. On any given day you'll go into a shop, restaurant, watch a tv program, listen to radio, go to a club, walk past a busker, pick up a newspaper or magazine, see a 'liam clone' and oasis will be there at some point. This is how it engrained into our culture in the UK and why they still relevant (among other things) and like you said theres always the next generation coming through, and the ageing generation still stays with them. No other modern band has had that. If oasis reformed they wouldn't change the face of music. Music has moved on. Noel is wrong when he says lower classes don't make music, they do but its just not traditional 'band' music its EDM, grime etc. Evolving music isn't what makes you relevant, even being popular isn't either relevant ˈrɛlɪv(ə)nt/Submit adjective closely connected or appropriate to the matter in hand. think oasis would fit that definition, they are connected to us

People can disagree but some definitely need to learn a lesson or two about respect. No need to call others retards or idiots. That doesn't put you above others, it shows you need to insult people to feel as if you are.

Good point. If you look at it that way albums aren't even relevant anymore.

Mean Mrs. Mustardthat was sorta my point albums have become less and less relevant as technology grows as poved in lp sales sadly

Well, actually D'You Know What I Mean? inspired Alex Turner, for example. They still play that one on their dressing room, according to him.
