yeah but #21 is way cooler isn't it? At the end of the day who is gonna remember the entry anyway? I don't even recall where HFB came in at. Mid 20s? Outside this place, noel is a little blip in a gigantic musical ocean. #28 I think? But at the end I'm really enjoying both the album and the tour,so Rihanna and co. can have that number 1 spot

I wish he'd promote properly and play the songs on TV and radio. Aside from some articles in the papers and magazines, there's been virtually nothing on TV and radio in the UK. Does TV and radio in the UK want a 47 year old man? Yes, they even offered to him to be the Judge of X factor. Which is probably the biggest tv show in UK

I don't know how popular it is but have a look at how much the singles have been played on Absolute Radio. absoluteradio.co.uk/absolute-radio/music/?q=noel+gallagher

Yeah but Absolute Radio is an alternative radio station, as XFM is Radio 1 on the other hand has played him twice or something

Radio 2 played Noel a lot. For weeks ITHOTM and BOTMI were in the top 3. And it's most popular radio in UK

With all due respect, Radio 1 can go and fornicate themselves with a cactus.
I had the misfortune of having to listen to it for one day over the summer. They must have played the same set of shit songs about 4 times during the course of the day.

I guess that's what it's like on all commercial stations..

You hear the same song because major labels pay them. What do you think, that James Bay became famous at some point because he's good? Nope, he became famous because his major label decided that his song must have been a hit. And here we go.
Give to James Bay The Dying of the Light and promote it with the same budget for his hit. Do you think it wouldn't be a hit? It would be on the top of the charts easily

Radio 2 played Noel a lot. For weeks ITHOTM and BOTMI were in the top 3. And it's most popular radio in UK Exactly this but people ignore this fact that R2 is more popular than R1, also all the commercial stations XFM and Absolute have played him LOTS. (just r2 and absolute together listeners added together is basically double r1 listeners so he's getting heard) Then all the 'local' / regional station's have played him a lot too. Theres a thread on here with local radio interviews he does them for exposure of the interview and to make sure they play his stuff. He's done loads of promotion, a day can't go by without NME picking quotes from another tv, radio or print interview. He streamed his album worldwide for nearly a week for free on the biggest music shop in the world (iTunes) he's streamed 2 full gigs worldwide which are easily available and on YT. He's been promoting over the last 6 months in a variety of different ways, if anything he's lucky cos he gets these guest spots on match of the day, sky sports, chat shows, soccer am, podcasts, hmv exclusive vinyls, etc etc Im sure theres plenty more to sales to come as people saying festival season ahead, few more singles to come out, more tv/radio/print. Jools Holland starts back mid next month so sure he'll squeeze an appearance on there in.

Midweek update: #12 www.officialcharts.com/charts/albums-chart-update/Pretty big drop, but there are 6 new albums before him, so he may end up in the top 10 this week as well if the hype will go down. I'm thinking about Courtney Barnett's album, for example. Keeping the Top 30 by the summer would be cool, imho. The summer dates will do the rest.

By the way, we were moaning about Noel's singles chart.
Look at Blur: First single "Go Out" charted at #182. And I bet they won't even sell 80k album in the first week
