Noel now has NINE consecutive UK #1 albums (7 with Oasis, 2 solo). Truly revered in England. Impressive. #godlike

Last Muse's album sold like 350k copies, enough said. Really, I wonder how many rock albums sold more copies. Probably the two from Coldplay, AM by Arctic Monkeys (not yet, but it was released 1.5 year ago) and that's it. EDIT: found a link. Best selling albums in UK since 2010 (15 january 2014). Noel is #38. Only Bonjovi Greatest hits, Florence & the machine (rock?), and Coldplay did better than him. portalpopline.com.br/21-album-de-adele-e-o-mais-vendido-da-decada-no-reino-unido/

Oh yes, probably some 50 years old people who listen only "Hard Rock" music and think that you need to have long hair, shit style and 5 minute long solos to be rock may consider him as non-rock. Rock is generic, if later Coldplay (A Sky Full of stars is electro pop) are rock Noel is Heavy Metal. So let's consider Noel and Coldplay as rock, I wouldn't say the same about Florence and the Machine. But whatever. The thing is he's in the top 5 of the decade. Not bad for him, but surely bad for the rock/indie rock scene if you need a 47 man from a famous band to fill the top 5.

He's got 4singles in the top 40,its totally crazy. Yeah but everybody in England should have the album by now,he's been in the top 10 since the day it came out FFS The same goes for Ed Sheeran. His album came out the same day as Morrissey's and annoyingly beat it to number 1. That was last July and this week it's still at number 3. My theory is that their music is being shoved down people's throats at every given opportunity. At football on Saturday I realised that I must have heard the same set of songs about a thousand times before. The same goes for mainstream radio, shops, clubs, pubs and television. These songs get stuck in the head of the public so they get to the point that they start to like them, translating into youtube hits, streams and album sales. As a side note, to anyone who hasn't already done so, try and get a copy of Morrissey's album (if you can find it anywhere.) It's a great record and my personal favourite from last year, although it was unfortunately pulled after only a few weeks.

If Noel is considered rock, and I think he is, then I would say that Florence is as well personally. I don't see why you wouldn't other than the fact it is femme-fronted

People hear Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran and because there's virtually noone else around just now they buy it even though it's bland shite.
