So if Noel lands a Top 20 single in the UK are we all popping champagne bottles next Monday? #TheTimesTheyAreAChanging Yes, because Olly Murs is more popular than him, right now. And this song will beat ITHOTM

Noel is #17 on the midweek.
It will really depend on how rapid his drop will be and he well he holds up in downloads. Right now Noel is keeping the margins that hr needs.
If he falls a position a day he'll be top 20. If he falls two positions per day he'll be top 25.
So, if we split the difference he probably ends up at #22 for the week....at most #20 (which only happens if he stays in the top 20 of iTunes and amazon till at least the end of tomorrow).

He needs to perform both ITHOTM and DTD. Maybe he'll play them in the next weeks to keep them on the chart.

Nice, I still doubt it will make the top 20 at the end of the week, but top 25 would be pretty good

If he is going to play them, it needs to be sooner rather than later.

So if Noel lands a Top 20 single in the UK are we all popping champagne bottles next Monday? #TheTimesTheyAreAChanging This time, yes. However, if Ballad of the Mighty I isn't properly promoted and doesn't pull the position like it should, then there might be time to question what Noel's team is doing. Until then, top 20 or even 25 is fine.....for now.

Even for a taster this song doesn't get promoted enough.

I'm talking live performances on TV, hitting all the major UK radio outlets and having the press drum up Johnny Marr's involvement (which was already a big note). I'm calling it right now, Ballad of The Mighty I lands in the Top 15. Boom!

It's really hard for a rock act to make the top 20 nowadays, especially if we're talking about a 47 yrs old musician who is well past his prime, plus the single hasn't been promoted that much, I think Ballad Of The Mighty I will, so he's doing pretty good At the end TDOYAM topped at #15, WAL #21...

It would possibly give him, depending on how In the Heat of the Moment does, his fourth Top 25, possibly Top 20 and his second top 15. I think if promoted well and really put out there, Noel could make a Top 10 out of it. Especially, if the quality of the song is even as half as good as we're led to believe.

Yeah, this was done very stupid. I don't know which genius came up with this idea.

its because chart position is irrelevant now a days. If this single charts at 10 20 or 61 like EOTR or 95 like if i had a gun, the amount of air play it gets on the radio will be the same. Even if it hit number 1 R1 would only play it when necessary
Like i said in the previous thread obv he's playing the long game with the co host breakfast show on monday that be the 4th? "long interview' he's done and then all the smaller ones etc and goggle box, and sky sports and Jonathan Ross, he's getting his name out there again, reminding everyone why they love him and 2 new tunes are a bonus. He's done lots of promotion had the album up of preorder for 6? weeks already and we still got 3.5 month wait.
The next single will be more traditional single promotion which is in turn album promotion.

ITHOTM back up one spot to #17, and it is Thursday in the UK--looks like a Top 20 debut is possible. If it is still Top 20 on Friday, I think its a lock to finish top 20. Gotta stay near the top 20 on Amazon too. He's currently #22. With technically no physical release, other than the vinyl, he's being kept up purely by downloads. That's tenuous position to be in. What I would say is if the midweek comes out Friday and he's say #18, he should barely scrape by. But if he's say #19, then I don't see how he hold his position for another 36 hours after that. One would hope that whatever push he gets from Johnathan Ross is the tiebreaker that pushes him over.

#17 on Itunes #21 on Amazon We'll see. The next 36 hours will decide. If he's say at #20 on iTunes and #24 around midday Friday, then he's got a decent chance.

I'm kind of surprised that it's even threatening the top 20 with such minimal promotion tbh. Even if it end up just outside the top 20 I think it's a pretty decent.
And with it being "a throwaway" to Noel...I wonder if top 10 is within sight for one of the next couple singles.

He's going down on Itunes, not surprising really, he's #20 now #22 on Amazon, was #23 this morning Hope he's able to stay near the top 20, then maybe vinyls and Johnatan Ross on saturday will help him gaining a few positions

In the heat of the moment: #19 on amazon and #20 on iTunes.
Do the Damage is #51 on iTunes and #51 on amazon.
The vinyl is #2 on amazon.
Must say that these two tracks have shown far more resiliency that I thought they would. Even though they've taken slight drops In the Heat of the Moment has been top 20 in downloads for four and a half days now. I wonder how long In the Heat of the Moment can stay top 20 in downloads. With every hour it stays there a top 20 single looks more and more attainable.
Tomorrow will be the final update for the midweek chart until the new one is released. It would be great to either see him maintain his #17 position or drop by no more than one position.
