Is it a good thing that I have no clue who or what Pharrell is? Yes in the sense that you probably haven't been subjected to his music and no in the sense that you are probably horribly out of touch with the modern world. That mightn't actually be a bad thing on second thoughts... Eva: Really? the guy in that photo with Noel above. picture him with a ridiculous mounty hat. I'm sure you've heard that annoying earworm of a song, "Happy" Yeah, I just looked at Happy, never heard it, but it's also not my brand. My music circle among friends and family is pretty much limited to rock and country and I hate country.

Not seen a thread like this on here for a while! Thanks for the info. Looking forward to more build up & new music very soon. I do think he will just drop a single out of nowhere though with very little promo.

I heard that Noel will be doing a hardcore rap for his new single which will feature Pharell.

Thing is, he's never going to get experimental with Dave Sardy is he?
If you watch the "Making of" documentary, or media accounts of the recording of NGHFB, it appears that Noel recorded the album himself and sent the tapes/files off to Sardy for polishing and mixing. That's when Sardy said some things needed to be re-recorded. So, I guess what I'm saying is, the non-experimenting is a Noel issue, not a Dave Sardy one.

The real issue is Dave Sardy is a backwards thinking producer. Noel is already hardwired that way musically (although he listens to a diverse range of music). For once I'd like Noel to have a producer looking towards the stars. Dreaming big.

Well, are there any people here that would like to give me an apology now? Definitely was one of the ones who didn't believe, but it appears you've been proven right.

One would think that if they're deciding between an October or November release, then they would have narrowed down their release window to one or two weeks. So late October or early November. We got our first airplay for the Death of You and Me on June 25th and the release on August 19th, so about a three week difference. Makes it seem like we'll be hearing radio play sometime between the very beginning of October or the middle of October. So, 3-5 weeks from now.

It's primarily a problem with Noel, but Noel takes on Sardy because he knows he's a wet blanket when it comes to pushing an artist. Who has he produced? Pub bands like Jet that's it. There's plenty of evidence that Noel does have the ability to experiment with different sounds - we've all heard it, and to me anyway, I love all his brief dalliances with electronic music. One of my favourite songs from Noel post 1997 is Alone On The Rope. It's genuinely brilliant, offering a glimpse of his songwriting versatility in giving us a gloomy, moody and dark tune that can match up to his peers who offer similar like Radiohead and U2. In fact, I always thought that tune would fit well on Standing on the Shoulders of Giant. Taken a lot more time and with tunes of a similar quality, that could have been the album to show Oasis could alter the mood of their music. But he could still have gone further with that song - electronic music often provides a sinister undercurrent which reinforces the message of the song. Imagine bands like Massive Attack without that style of production - it would take a lot of menace away from the songs personally. That's my belief that Noel can experiment - his tunes have the fundamental aspects of a good tune, it's just adding layers to it personally. He wouldn't be polishing a turd, because it was never a turd in the first place! Some may dislike Amorphous Androgynous, but that's different as they basically cut up Noel songs and what's left of the original tune is barely there. I'm not asking for Noel to cut up his songs. Noel has said 'why leave your comfort zone when that's where I'm comfy' or words to that effect. But if you stay in your comfort zone for too long, you get cramp in your arse. It literally becomes a pain in the arse. At best, it's pleasant but there's no getting away from the fact it does get boring. Fair play to Noel - he does have a greater vision for experimenting than the rest of Beady Eye. The most interesting cut from Dig Out Your Soul is Falling Down (another song which would have sounded great with electronic beats - the pace and rhythym of that song makes it ideal for that treatment personally). What I do not mean by 'experimenting' though is Beatles knock offs from their experimental phase 1966 onwards, which was what we got from the Beady Eye members on the same album.

In terms of sound, I'd actually be pretty surprised if we got HFB's part 2. I don't think there will be as much choir and srings on this album. Just a gut feeling. Also, present by the fact that we just haven't heard anything about a choir and we've only heard of strings associated with one song on the album.I think it'll be less of HFB's and Noel being conscious of not being in a band, while still trying to have that big band feel.
Just have a feeling this album maybe more intimate and less driven in scope.
