I really dig the UNOS as well. The songs are very uplifting and energetic. It's a bit overproduced and stupid at times. But it could grow on you. It shows the "mad" side of Richard Ashcroft.

According to Nick McCabe, it's apparently up to Richard as to weather it happens or not. There was a video on Nick's Facebook page a while ago, of him trying to sell his old guitars and equipment to pay for student loans. It was pretty depressing to see, considering he could probably rake in quite a lot of money after touring for a year with The Verve. I'd rather have one more Verve album than an Oasis reunion and solo Ashcroft album. I personally feel Verve has run its course, but of course everyone would love to see them work together again and for Nick's sake, remember hearing about him selling his guitar equipment a couple months ago. I sorta feel like Ashcroft-Verve is the same situation Roses were in with Ian Brown solo, except Verve had many more songs to instill a legacy and did deliver a comeback album. Forth was ok, but the majority of the songs are just too long and the non-Japanese tracklist left off Ma Ma Soul and Muhammad Ali (two of the best tracks from the era). If they reform again and bring out another album (which would be a certainty) I would love to see them go back to their ASIH roots.

Would love The Verve to remaster all their albums and include all the b-sides and rarities. I thought this was in the cards a couple years ago for A Storm in Heaven and Northern Soul but Ashcroft may not have approved their release.
Nick and Si Jones put out a good album as Black Submarine.
Did Nick and Liam get on when Oasis and The Verve partied in the 90s? Nick would bring something special to a collaboration with Liam.

Nope, Nick despises Oasis from what I saw on a couple interviews sometime before Forth was released.

Only a legend can end a gig like this. What a class act.

I honestly can't see this man being involved in any truly great records again unfortunately. Would love him to prove me wrong however.

I honestly can't see this man being involved in any truly great records again unfortunately. Would love him to prove me wrong however. One he got married and had kids, the creative juices sadly went missing. With Ashcroft it was always about been at your lowest and fighting your way back up that got him going, plus having Nick McCabe by his side who added that magic. I liked his first solo album, nothing on it rivals his Verve stuff but it's harmless. I enjoy it for what it was, but I think he be one of those guys who be touring- play a ton of old band songs that made his name- throw in a solo song and new song here and there type of musician. I can't see him ever reaching the heights he did in the middle 90's.

Listened to Forth again a couple of days ago and aside from a wonky tracklist and duration - it is a solid reunion album.
- Love Is Noise - Sit And Wonder - Rather Be - Vallium Skies - Judas - Columbo - Appalachian Springs
All amazing songs in my book. For whatever reason, they kept Ma Ma Soul and Muhammad Ali only as Japan bonus tracks, and Blue Pacific Ocean remained unreleased...why?
I also listened to Alone With Everybody the other day and with Chris Potter as producer, it was a great debut. Biggest gripe for me is C'mon People which would've been a killer Verve tune!

I agree. I love Forth! Shows what a great potential that band would still have if they were getting on... But since another reunion won't happen (presumably), I can't wait for Richard to realease something new and go on tour so I can finally see him live.

First single on Monday morning too, according to Radio X! Wow! I didn't really dare to be euphoric yet because I thought -knowing Richard- it might be just an announcement for a Festival. Can't wait! I hope he is going to announce a tour as well!

Can't wait! Hopefully we hear a snippet or it leaks before Monday. Seems like a pretty low key comeback.

Richard will be on Radio X talking to Vernon Kay starting from 10 am UK time. The new song will be premeried earlier, during the Rich Walters show (4:30-6:30 am UK time)

I am actually REALLY excited and I don't know what to expect. It's been such a long time since he released something and during all this time he should definitely have written good songs. There's no excuses really. So my expectations are pretty high but I'm also a bit scared that it won't be that good cause it will probably mean it will never be again...

Just seen Pretty Green tweeted about this, some in store acoustic gigs maybe? A few bands have done that for promotion.

It's amazing how excited I still am for this, considering the...let's say patchy element of his output outside The Verve. Has he still got an American accent though?
