Richard Ashcroft is the only man in the world who can hold up 2 burger bags wearing a wooly jumper and still look cool as fuck.

I hope this is good. I'm a big fan of Ashcroft - but more as the frontman of The Verve as opposed to the solo artist.
I'm actually a big fan of Forth and I was more gutted to here they split (again..) more so than Oasis. Though I shouldn't have been surprised.
ANOTHER Verve reunion would be great.

According to Nick McCabe, it's apparently up to Richard as to weather it happens or not. There was a video on Nick's Facebook page a while ago, of him trying to sell his old guitars and equipment to pay for student loans. It was pretty depressing to see, considering he could probably rake in quite a lot of money after touring for a year with The Verve. I'd rather have one more Verve album than an Oasis reunion and solo Ashcroft album.

How good is Ashcroft's solo work? I've a friend who's into all things Richard and he says that United Nations of Sound was "dreadful" but that his other albums were great. He also said that Urban Hymns was more like Richard solo than The Verve, which was a bit of a shock to hear honestly because that's the only Verve album that I've really listened to! But I can see what he means, the earlier albums are very groovy and psychedelic rather than song-based! Do you guys agree with what he said?

Hit and miss for me, the highlights of his solo carreer could be traced as UH outtakes(C'mon people we're making it now and Song for the lovers)

Love the cool vibes of the song. Wish a song like "Who Feels Love?" had similar production.

Richard can be more experimental than NG but then the mainstream dont like that and Chris Martin and Coldplay has to offer an opener spot in their tour...

'Human Conditions' is the first album that introduced me to Richards music and then on to The Verve when I was 16. That, along with 'Alone With Everybody' are fantastic albums. 'Keys To The World' is kinda in the middle for me, but has some great b-sides. 'UNOS' has about 3 or 4 decent songs, including the bonus tracks, but overall is awful and shouldn't be listened to as an introduction to Richards music.

Bring your killer voice back to us, Richard!
PS: He is a very polite, nice and friendly guy.

Agree with you on Forth it's a really special album to me. His United Nations Of Sound record got a lot of stick from reviewers and although it has some cheesy lyrics his vocals on the album blow me away each time I spin it.

Bring your killer voice back to us, Richard! PS: He is a very polite, nice and friendly guy. Have you met him? Yes, in 2010 when he played with the United Nations in Melkweg. I popped up him on the street on my way to lunch, but I wasn't sure if it was him. Hours later again outside the venue. I always thought he would be arrogant, but he was really nice and polite. I got my Urban Hymns album cover signed. He asked me if I was there for his gig and asked my name and said "it's a shame that this album has no autographs on it".

You haven't listened to what the Verve really is until listening to A Storm in Heaven and A Northern Soul. UH is only able to be claimed as a Verve album because of McCabe's guitar work and Rolling People/Come On, otherwise without those tunes it'd be an Ashcroft album featuring McCabe. Here's my Verve playlist for you (no Urban Hymns Tracks): 1) Slide Away 2) A New Decade 3) Beautiful Mind 4) This Is Music 5) The Sun, The Sea 6) So It Goes 7) Blue 8) She's A Superstar 9) No Knock On My Door 10) Butterfly 11) Life's An Ocean 12) Stormy Clouds 13) See You In the Next One (Have A Good Time)
