I'd love to be able to defend this album but it's pretty bland. What I cant get over the most, is how bad the production quality is. Am i the only one here noticing this? It has very poor and distorted sound throughout, and i think its badly mixed. Some of the songs almost sound like demos.

The instrumentals sound cheap, like the kind of stuff you get for free on keyboards. How much money does Ashcroft have to spend on a record these days? He doesn't get anything from his biggest hit, and he hasn't had a hit in over twenty years.

But yeah, 'cheap' pretty much sums up the overall sound on NR. Maybe he couldnt afford Chris Potter this time?

Its nowhere near as bad as some people are making out. It was ok on first listen. About to listen again. Not writing off an RA album that easily. Maybe it's a grower. It's definitely not what I had hoped it would be, but I feel like it's a step in the right direction. I also think Streets of Amsterdam and Money Money are really decent.

There is no distortion on any of the tracks. Maybe it's your source or audio equipment.

It might be a grower, but on the first few listens it's all a bit lacklustre.
The last 2 tracks are OK.

I hated These People, in fact, I still haven't been able to finish it. Have tried twice.
Anyway, I feel like this album has gone in the right direction music wise but the problem is that it's simply not good enough, and I think the production is very bland as well. I kinda like Money Money, it's got a good vibe, but it's probably the instrumental that makes it sound good, not Ashcroft.
I don't think he's made a good album since 'Alone With Everybody'. That's 18 years...

Crazy to think Break the Night with Colour got to number three in the singles charts in 2006. I'd honestly be surprised if the album breaks into the top five.

Phew, he's just so off the mark. It's just really really saddening reading his interviews. Let alone listen to the music. He's still 'mad' Richard but for all the wrong reasons. Him and Billy Corgan should have just left it there in 1997/98.

This interview reads like fan fiction. Does Richard really speak like that? He sounds like he’s 13.

He has lost the plot. Musically he's more boring than ever. And in the interview he seem to be part of another world. Such a shame.

I'm surprised the reactions are mostly negative. I just wish Noel would still release albums as good as "Natural Rebel"

Unbelievably this is at number one in the mid-week charts. Although it looks like bar the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack there are no other challengers.

A Man In Motion is a lovely little tune. Only track on the album that I thought was going to go somewhere after that nice intro, but just fizzles out.

I DARE YOU I enjoy the whole album from start to finish Something I cannot say about Noel's last two. Of course that doesn't mean all songs are great or hits. But it has a chilling flow til the last tune which is a rocker.
