Live at Roundhouse is truly gorgeous. This completely unexpected release is a gift from heaven. Releasing the live CD of the gig right after the entire gig. How charming is that? Well done, Johnny!

It was a faster than ever and completely unexpected release! Live at Roundhouse CD was ready to purchase at merch. stand right after the gig last Sunday. I bought the CD/triple LP and Manchester CD on Monday and they'll be released January/February 2019, but they send me mp3 of Roundhouse show on same day. I'll receive mp3 of Manchester show upcoming Sunday right after the show as well. Sound quality is brilliant and brilliant performance by Matt Johnson as well.

Hold your breath, carlober! What time will door open? (think around 7 PM?) and Johnny will be on stage at 9, I think. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Good luck!

So... I made it! I managed to leave a bit earlier from work, so I got into the venue roughly 30 minutes before the start of the gig. Man, what a night. Johnny was on fire... pure energy. That man is a force of nature. Hearing live some tunes which have literally shaped my passion for music was incredible: when he strummed the intro to "Bigmouth" I realized how many years I'd been waiting for that moment. His guitar sound is like an ear-piercing, melodic, meandering soundscape. It's impressive on record, but live... wow, that's pure genius at work. I can't really tell any highlights... the whole gig was a highlight, basically. If I have to choose, my favorite moments where the intro to "Bigmouth" (the whole room literally jumped at once), the instrumental breakdown in "Getting Away With It" (raw and unfiltered Marr), "Get the Message" (so fucking uplifting!) and "New Town Velocity" (which he played on request). And the outro of "There Is a Light" of course... the greatest riff ever imho. And the night was made even more special by another small thing... Before the start of the gig I noticed Johnny's daughter Sonny walking around. I smiled at her and she smiled me back, but I didn't want to annoy her. She watched parts of the gig near me (I was roughly ten metres from the stage), and at the end some other people recognized her and went to say hello. I had in the pocket of my jacket the pickguard of my Rickenbacker 330 guitar, which I brought just because... why not? What if you bump into Johnny by chance? So... very politely (and with no voice at all because of the flu and the singing) I said hello and I asked if there was a way of getting my pickguard signed, telling her that I didn't want to be a bore and to annoy her or her father. She was so unbelievably kind, she told me to wait a couple of minutes and took my pickguard backstage with her. A few moments later she came back with the signed pickguard in her hands! I was speechless, I could only say thank you, but she thanked me back and she even hugged me. What a lovely girl, when you meet people so positive and genuine like her your faith in humanity gets completely restored. So... I didn't get to meet Johnny himself, but that's for next time! mimmihopps and durk, you were right. I was in for a treat. Oh, and here's the pickguard, waiting to go back on the Rickenbacker:

What a great story of Sonny being so kind to get your pickguard signed by Johnny! So father, so daughter. I've only met Johnny once 11 years ago and he was one of the nicest and gentlest persons I've ever met. I'm not saying because he's my guitar hero, but he is a really nice, down to earth guy. He is what he is and his songs and guitar are himself. So glad to hear that you could make the gig and enjoyed. Now you have your custom made Johnny Marr pckguard, the only one of the world! and joladella, are you joining our mighty L4E "Johnny Fucking Marr fan club"?

His daughter sounds really sweet. I like what I've heard of her singing voice, too. That song off his first album 'European Me', where she features quite prominently, is one of my favourites of his.
